1. Register for Fall Sunday School

We need your help! We're looking toward the fall and Sunday School. But with a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, we have no idea how to plan.

Regardless of age, please sign up using the link below if you'll be participating in Sunday School this fall. This information is essential for recruiting teachers and determining potential numbers, which informs class groupings — especially in children’s ministry.

And speaking of teachers, are you willing to explore taking a Sunday School teaching position? If so, you can indicate it on your form.

Promoting Sunday School in June is certainly unprecedented, but your participation now ensures that we're ready for the fall launch. In short, we can’t do it without you!

2. Green Hill Lake Camp Share-A-Wage

It’s that time of the year, time to talk about our BSBC youth serving this summer at Green Hill Lake Camp. For summer 2022, that includes Dylan Wightman and Nathan Holmes. Here’s your opportunity to get to know them!

Dylan Wightman

Hi, my name is Dylan Wightman, I have been working at camp for 3 years now and I am excited for my new position of housekeeping coordinator or “crew leader”.

This is a very new position for me, and I would appreciate prayer for the ability to go into this summer feeling ready and confident to lead and serve for the glory of God.

I can’t wait for this summer to begin and for all the kids to be on site again! And with this year’s amazing staff I’m sure it will be an awesome and smooth sailing summer!

Nathan Holmes

Hello! My name is Nathan Holmes. This is my 3rd year working on staff at GHLC and I will be serving as a Sr. Cabin Leader this summer.

This is my first year in this position, so I am really looking forward to everything this summer has in store for me and my campers each week. And for the opportunity to grow in my faith and help them learn about God.

About Share-A-Wage

GHLC needs a small army of excited staff every summer to make camp happen! Cabin Leaders, Life Guards, and experienced camp pros (like Dylan and Nathan) will oversee all the fun – every member of our Support Staff ensures that the Green Hill experience lives up to our top-notch reputation. These staff have experience with camp and kids, and it shows!

Many of these leaders work at GHLC, making less than they would in other summer jobs, foregoing this for the calling to serve as missionaries on the mission field at Green Hill Lake Camp. And that’s where we come in. Through the Green Hill Lake Camp SHARE-A-WAGE program, your donation can help provide additional financial support to camp staff and help position them for the post-secondary education they will begin in September.

There are two ways to give: (1) go to the camp website (https://greenhill.campbraingiving.com/) and select “Share-a-Wage” from the drop-down menu. In the donation note, be sure to say, “Thanks to Dylan and Nathan for letting me know about Share-a-Wage,” or (2) simply put your donation through the church offering and be sure to make it “Share-a-Wage.” If you mark it GHLC, your funds will not make it to the “Share-a-Wage” program. Either way, charitable giving receipts for your gift will be issued.

Thanks for considering this opportunity to invest in lives like Dylan and Nathan.

Pastor Greg

3. Children's Half-Day Summer Camp

This summer, the week of July 4 to 8, from 9 a.m. to Noon, our children will learn that God’s creativity didn’t stop in Genesis. The Master Artist is working to redeem, reclaim, and transform us — His creation — to the design He planned for us. Our children will see the beautiful truth that they are God’s creation as they learn to use their talents to bring glory to Him.

Join our team

We hope you will prayerfully consider being a part of BSBC’s 2022 Children’s Half-Day Summer Camp team! When you complete the volunteer registration, you’ll have the opportunity to tell us where and how you’re available to serve. If you have any questions about what a particular role will look like, we’ll be happy to help explain them so you can make an informed decision about your role before committing.

Children’s Half-Day Summer Camp Theme Bible Verse: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

5. Sunday Morning: June 26

Give to the Lord the glory he deserves!
Bring your offering and come into his courts.
Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor.
Let all the earth tremble before him.
Psalm 96:8-9

On this final Sunday in June we gather to give God the glory he deserves. Online or in person, we hope you’ll connect with us this week!

In the gym, Dr. Keith will be sharing the third message in his three-part series, “Route 66”, a study in the book of Revelation. Of the third sermon, The Throne, he writes: So far in our short series on the book of Revelation, we have noticed that there is no mention of words such as rapture, or being left behind, or any strategies for escapism. Instead, we are given the gift of a life-transforming vision of the risen Lord Jesus and all kinds of encouragement to persevere in our adventure of faith even when circumstances are difficult. The various letters to the seven churches—and the number seven indicates that these messages are relevant to every church in every age—features a performance review (much like we would get at work!), but also incredible promises that stir our imaginations and prompt our faithfulness. This week we open the door of chapter 4, where we travel with the author John to the very throne-room of God. Periodically we get a glimpse of the divine throne in Scriptures, such as the call of the prophet in Isaiah 6, the vast council chamber in Job 1-2, and the heavenly court of Psalm 82 where the powers of the universe are brought to trial. But the vision of Revelation chapter 4 is arguably the most resplendent, and this week we will emphasize how these images of God’s throne can captivate our hearts and influence the way we live, how we relate to everyone around us, and how we understand our Lord’s design for our discipleship in these days.

In the sanctuary, you were to have the third installment of the Ephesians series by watching a video sermon from Pastor Greg recorded in the gym at the end of May. However, the quality of the recording is poor, so good old Dr. Keith will be doing double-duty this Sunday and sharing a different message in the sanctuary than the one from the gym. This relieves Pastor Greg from re-recording the message while on vacation (for which he is eternally grateful!).

This week in the gym, worshippers have the blessing of sitting under the leadership of our youth “Greenhouse” worship leaders. The whole service will be led by students who have been leading the “Greenhouse” youth services since the beginning of 2022.

In the sanctuary, musical leadership will include Yvonne Kershaw and Gloria Tranquilla, a choral ensemble and soloist Beth Snow. Deacon Ron and Sandra McMullin will be leading the service in Pastor Greg’s absence.

6. Socks for the Sole

Providing a clean, dry pair of socks is a simple but important way to make a difference in the quality of life of someone who is homeless.

Your Social Action Team invites you to put "feet first" by donating a pair of new socks to help our homeless neighbours feel drier and more comfortable all year. Socks of all sizes will be collected in the "Sock Box," which will be located in the Connections Centre, until Sunday July 3.

Thank you!

7. Church Library

Our church is blessed with a great library! It has everything from children's books, Bible studies, all types of fiction, and large print. Stop in and take a look! We're open every Sunday after the services.

If you have used the library, please check for overdue books at home. Books can be returned to the locked box outside the library any time the church is open. If you've borrowed books and are unable to return them, please call Sharon at 450-7878.

8. Upcoming Pastoral Staff Vacations

Pastor Ross

Pastor Ross will start his second week of vacation on Monday, July 18 and return to ministry on Monday, July 25.

Pastor Nikki

Pastor Nikki will enjoy vacation starting on Sunday, Aug. 14 and returning to ministry on Sunday, Aug. 28.

Dr. Keith

Given the parameters of his contract, Dr. Bodner will be preaching up to and including Sunday, July 10 and then will be back with us for the first Sunday in September. Pray for the Bodners as they plan summer travels to the west coast to visit with family.

Pastor Greg

Pastor Greg began a month of vacation on Monday, June 6 and will return to ministry on Monday, July 4. Then, he will have a second month of leave from Monday, July 25 returning to ministry on Monday, Aug. 22.

We are confident that the congregation will be supportive of the added time off for summer 2022. During both times off, Pastor Ross will be providing pastoral leadership/care as will Pastor Nikki, excepting her time of vacation in August. Given the newness of Pastors Nikki and Ross to BSBC, Pastor Greg will be available for funerals during times off. This has been the pattern since the beginning of the interim period. Please pray that these months of break will be renewing and invigorating for Pastor Greg.

Your Board of Deacons
