1.Remembrance Day

Please note that our Church Offices will be closed on Monday, November 11th. We will reopen on Tuesday, November 12th at 8:30 am.

2. Fall Business Meeting: November 14

The Moderator for Brunswick Street Baptist Church is calling for a Fall Business Meeting to be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 7:00 pm, in the sanctuary. To attend online, please contact the church office for the Zoom link. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Calvin Smith.

3.Name Tag November

This November let's fill our church with warmth and connection! Before each service, grab a name tag at the Church Office or Connections Center. Together, let's make every smile, greeting, and introduction an opportunity to grow closer as a family. Let's make this month one to remember as we get to know each other better!

4.Children’s Check-In System Update

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Beginning Sunday, November 10, we will be updating our children's Check-In system each Sunday for the next few weeks. To ensure a smooth transition, please stop by the Connections Center as early as 9:00 a.m. if your child attends Sunday School, Preschool, or KidzTown programming. Pastor Nikki and our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Sam, will be available to assist you.

Our goal is to create a more streamlined Check-In and Check-Out experience for everyone. Once this process is complete, we’re excited to have a faster, easier system in place each Sunday!

If you’re interested in joining our Check-In team to help make this possible, please reach out to Mary Tingley. Thank you for your cooperation and support as we work to improve this process for our families!

5.Christmas Memorial Poinsettias

This Christmas season, we invite you to help us adorn our worship spaces by placing a poinsettia in honor or memory of someone special. Poinsettias will be arranged in the Sanctuary and in the Gym starting the first Sunday in December, adding beauty and warmth throughout the holiday season.

Each poinsettia is $15. To order, simply pick up a “Christmas Memorial Poinsettias” envelope at the Connections Center and complete all required information to ensure your donation is properly designated. We will recognize all donated plants in the Sunday Loop on December 22 and in the newsletter on Thursday, December 19.

For further details, please contact the church office at bsbc@bsbc.nb.ca.

6.What Would You Like to Make on Crafternoon?

Mark your calendars for Crafternoon on Saturday, November 30, from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. Gather with friends and family for an afternoon filled with creativity and fun, designed for all ages! We’ll have a variety of craft projects to enjoy, so there’s something for everyone.

Enjoy pizza for supper (available by the slice at a small additional cost). Participation for the afternoon is $5 per person, with a special $10 fee for those choosing to make a Christmas door mat. After covering event expenses, any remaining proceeds will be donated to our Going Local Christmas fund to help support local families during the holiday season.

Sign Up this Sunday: Stop by the Connection Centre after the service to view our craft selection and sign up for the ones you’d like to do. Don’t miss out on this festive time of fellowship and creativity—hope to see you there!

7.WMS Monthly Meeting: November 11

All ladies are invited to the WMS meeting on November 11, 2024, at 1:30 pm on the third floor of the Family Life Center. The focus of this meeting will be the Baptist Women’s Day of Prayer.

8.55+ Luncheon: November 18

You’re warmly invited to our upcoming 55+ Luncheon on Monday, November 18th, at 12:00 PM! Join us for a cozy meal featuring chicken noodle or beef barley soup or corn chowder, accompanied by fresh biscuits. For dessert, we will delight in a classic pineapple upside down cake.

Come for delicious food and stay for wonderful fellowship. We look forward to seeing you there!

Just a couple things… please pick up your dishes and the cupboard tops are not to be used for storage space as this restricts user access. Thank you!

9.Ladies Exercise

Ladies, you're invited to join our weekly exercise classes every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the gym! This is a wonderful opportunity to get active, enjoy some fellowship, and start your week strong with a supportive group of women. Whether you're just starting out or are already an exercise enthusiast, all fitness levels are welcome.

Important Dates:

The last session for Ladies Exercise in 2024 will be on Friday, December 13. Classes will take a short break over the holidays and will resume on Monday, January 6, 2025.

10.The Christmas Experience Bible Study: Sunday Mornings

Calling all adults to join the Christmas Experience Bible Study on Sundays from 9:30-10:15 am in the Family Room.

The Christmas Experience is a 6-week small group study that examines the Christmas story in detail, helping groups (and families) prepare for the Christmas season. Each episode will focus on how God chose everyone in the Christmas story for a specific purpose. Those participating in The Christmas Experience study will be able to find themselves in the Christmas story, as they learn that what happened then changes everything now. For more information, contact Sarah Millette.

11. Understanding the End Times and Preparing for It Bible Study

The Understanding the End Times and Preparing for It Bible study is open on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm until November 27th. This Bible study will be held in the second-floor boardroom, led by Manuel Brayley.

For more information, please contact Manuel at 506-260-8944.

13. Christmas Choir Rehearsals

Come One, Come All!

Join us for rehearsals every Sunday after the morning service at 11:45 a.m. in the Choir Room, running until November 24th.

We welcome all singers from Grade 3 and up, including teens, young adults, and seniors! This year, we’ll be performing "He Made a Way in a Manger" at the Combined Service on December 1st and at the City Carol Festival on Wednesday, December 4th.

13. Kids Sing

All children in Grades 3 to 8 are invited to join us to learn how to sing and read music! Mr. Steeves will be the instructor, and the young singers will be preparing to perform at upcoming church services, especially during the Christmas season.

We’ll meet in the Choir Room every Tuesday from 6:00–6:40 p.m.

Choose the time that works best for you!

14. Volunteer Opportunities

Muffin Ministry: Booking for December 2024 and January 2025

On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and your Social Action Team, we extend a heartfelt thank you to our faithful ‘muffin makers’ for serving in this meaningful way.

Our schedule is now open for December 2024 and January 2025, and we are in need of 3 dozen muffins each week. Please package 12 individually wrapped muffins in a large, zip-locked bag labeled “Street Ministry.” Be sure to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. The labeled muffins can be placed in the upright freezer in the main kitchen.

To sign up, click the link below or call the church office at 506-458-8348, and our admin team will be happy to assist with the online registration. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in His name, and we believe that muffins serve as a wonderful way to bless others in His honor.

Help the BSBC Library!

We are looking for volunteers to help in our church library. If you could spare some time to help on Sunday mornings, either before or after church, it would be greatly appreciated. For more details drop by the library and talk to Shirley Graves.

Thank you for considering this ministry opportunity.

Senior Residence Services

We are looking for volunteers to help with church services at our senior residences.

If you love to sing or play a musical instrument, we need you! Volunteering once a month or even once every two months would be a wonderful blessing to this ministry and our seniors.

For more information, including schedules, locations, and times, please contact Doug McAllister, our Senior's Visitation Pastor, at the church or by email at doug.mcallister@bsbc.nb.ca.

Third Sunday Supper

Our Third Sunday Suppers have been going strong, with at least 50 guests attending each meal. However, as we look ahead to 2025, we need more help from individuals or groups willing to serve or host. So far, only one Sunday is covered for the New Year. If you're interested in coordinating a meal but need extra hands, please let us know!

Blessings,

Judy Thompson

15.Trunk-or-Treat Recap

On October 27th, we successfully hosted our 4th annual Trunk-or-Treat event, and we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed. From donating supplies and decorating vehicles to promoting the event and offering prayers, your support was invaluable. We were thrilled by the impressive turnout, with many participants from our church and an even greater number of local community members joining us. It is always an honor to engage with our community and serve as a beacon of light to those both within and beyond our church. Thank you for helping make this event a wonderful community success!

16.Youth Recreational Basketball

Do you love basketball, or want to give it a shot for the first time? We’ve got two recreational teams that meet weekly in our church gym—free and fun for everyone!

Please contact Pastor Ross ross@bsbc.nb.ca for details.

19.Weekly Financial Countdown

We are deeply grateful to all who have given, as we trust God to provide through the faithful generosity that supports our ministry's vision.

20. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings: November 10

In the Gym, worship team will be led by Greg Keezer. In the Sanctuary, the worship team will be led by Gloria Tranquilla and David Steeves with special music from the Sanctuary Choir.

This Sunday, we’re honored to welcome Dr. Robert Knowles from Crandall University as we celebrate the school’s 75th anniversary. Dr. Knowles will be preaching in both services as we also take time to remember our brothers and sisters who fought for us. About his sermon titled “Tested by Fire”, taken from 1 Peter 1:3-9, he writes, “Fire is a common image in the Bible. We sometimes see the devastation it brings as we watch our news, but could a fire actually help us personally? Could it be a blessing in our lives? Peter gives great words of encouragement and hope regarding the fiery trials we go through.” Don’t miss this special time of reflection, celebration, and gratitude.

Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am.

21. Pastoral Care

Your Deacons want to affirm that BSBC is equipped to provide Pastoral Care. We are grateful for the engagement of Rev. Ross and Pastor Nikki, and we are blessed to have additional support from Rev. Kevin Culberson, sanctuary Ministry Coordinator and the Baptist Chaplin at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and Doug McAllister, our Benevolent Coordinator and Senior’s Visitation Pastor.

Here are some suggested approaches:

Hospitalizations

• Your pastors will only know of hospitalizations if the church office or individual pastors are contacted directly

• We’d appreciate you notifying the office if you know of the hospitalization of a member of the BSBC family

Critical Incident

• If a pastor is needed in an emergency situation, between Monday to Friday, 8:30 am and 4 pm, please contact the church office

• Outside of office hours, please contact a pastor directly

Bereavement

• Rev. Ross and Rev. Kevin will be available to support families at a time of loss, to conduct funeral and committal services

• Contact the church office during office hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4 pm

• Outside of office hours, please contact a pastor directly

• We have provided McAdams, Bishops, and York Funeral Homes with the contact information for both Rev. Ross and Rev. Kevin

• If you are not a member of a bereaved family but know of a death within the BSBC family, please contact the church office to make sure your pastors are aware of the need

Parish Nurses

  • The parish nursing ministry is intended to support and strengthen the spiritual, physical and emotional well-being of individuals, families, and the congregation at BSBC. Roz Thompson and Cheryl Gibson, your parish nurses, collaborate with members of the pastoral team promoting health and faith, to facilitate the healing of the body, mind, and spirit. The parish nurses are available to provide prayer and support for physical, mental, and spiritual health challenges.
