1. Fall Business Meeting: November 14
The Moderator for Brunswick Street Baptist Church is calling for a Fall Business Meeting to be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 7:00 pm, in the sanctuary. To attend online, please contact the church office for the Zoom link. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Calvin Smith.
2.Time Change This Weekend
This Sunday morning, November 3, we all get an extra hour of much needed sleep! Please don’t forget to adjust your clocks so that you can be here for 10:30 instead of 9:30 am. If you do forget, please join us for Sunday School or Coffee Time and we will help caffeinate you.
3.Name Tag November
This November let's fill our church with warmth and connection! Before each service, grab a name tag at the Church Office or Connections Center. Together, let's make every smile, greeting, and introduction an opportunity to grow closer as a family. Let's make this month one to remember as we get to know each other better!
4.What Would You Like to Make on Crafternoon?
Do you know any fun Christmas crafts? The WMS is gearing up for our annual Christmas Crafternoon, and they need your help to make it an unforgettable event for all ages!
If you have creative ideas, please reach out to Alfie Clark or any member of WMS. Let’s make this holiday season extra special!
5.The Christmas Experience Bible Study: November 3
Calling all adults to join the Christmas Experience Bible Study on Sundays from 9:30-10:15am in the Family Room.
The Christmas Experience is a 6-week small group study that examines the Christmas story in detail, helping groups (and families) prepare for the Christmas season. Each episode will focus on how God chose everyone in the Christmas story for a specific purpose. Those participating in The Christmas Experience study will be able to find themselves in the Christmas story, as they learn that what happened then changes everything now. For more information, contact Sarah Millett.
6.New CBM Board Representative: Pastor Nikki
Our own Pastor Nikki Leftley has accepted a nomination to the CBM board! Canadian Baptist Ministries is a mission organization, based in Mississauga, ON, with mission partners around the world. Pastor Nikki is one of three CBAC Atlantic representatives, on a two-year term. The CBM board helps govern the direction of CBM to ensure compliance with regulations and bylaws, help with financial oversight, strategic planning, participate in the development and approval of the mission and vision, help mediate conflict, and help with risk management. We thank God for Pastor Nikki. We are so excited for her and that her gifts have been recognized.
7.WMS Monthly Meeting: November 11
All ladies are invited to the WMS meeting on November 11, 2024, at 1:30 pm on the third floor of the Family Life Center. The focus of this meeting will be the Baptist Women’s Day of Prayer.
8. Chinese Congregation’s Grand Opening at Barnabas
Praise the Lord! We are grateful that the Chinese congregation has moved into the Barnabas Centre and began Sunday worship last Sunday. This marks an exciting new beginning! May God greatly bless the Chinese ministry and use it to expand His Kingdom through BSBC. May this new gathering place become a space to spread the Gospel, build up believers, and glorify God!
Please continue to remember us in your prayers, asking God to grant wisdom and strength to lead more people to know His love and truth.
9. Mission Month: Proclaim His Name
Hello, dearest BSBC family!
Your Missions Committee would like to thank you for taking part in this year’s Missions Month. We hope you were encouraged by hearing how God is at work all over the world! Wasn’t it moving to see some of our members, born outside of Canada, proudly carrying their beautiful flags as they walked in on Sunday morning? We are truly loved by the God of all nations, who desires to be known and to reveal His great and unconditional love for all mankind.
We also want to express our gratitude for the significant role each of you plays in the lives of our BSBC Missions partners through your faithful intercession and generosity.
Please don’t hesitate to let us know how God is calling YOU to participate in His redemptive mission. We want to walk with you in this process, as we believe He continues inviting more and more workers to join His fields, which are white and ready for harvest!
Allow me to close by quoting once again the words of David Platt, the U.S.-based pastor and author: “Is there anything greater than the representation and proclamation of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth?”
May we be bold in our proclamation and courageous in our making of disciples of all nations, remembering time and time again that God is so worthy of our obedience to the Great Commission!
Sincerely yours,
Charles Millette,
on behalf of your Missions Committee
10. Harvest for the Hungry Update
The Social Action Team and the leaders and participants in BSBC’s New Life Ministry wish to pass on A BIG THANK YOU to the congregation for their generosity and support of this year’s Harvest for the Hungry campaign.
Thanks to you an amazing quantity of non-perishable food items was collected to help re-stock the cupboards of our own New Life Ministry program as well as the Greener Village Fredericton Food Bank.
In addition over $3,035.00 in monetary donations was received which will be divided evenly between New Life and the Food bank.
We are reminded that God loves a cheerful giver, and we are indeed blessed to have such a caring congregation that continuously gives in such a generous and cheerful manner…so, thank you once again.
God is so good.
Social Action Team
11. CBAC Justice Summit
Join us for the upcoming CBAC (Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada) Justice Summit, taking place on November 1-2 in Truro, NS! This year, we're excited to explore the theme “Renewal in the Neighborhood,” focusing on real, practical issues like poverty and the housing crisis.
You’ll leave with valuable tools and a fresh perspective to help discern God-inspired solutions for your own community. The Summit is a powerful experience, especially when attended with a group—whether big or small—from your church.
We believe God is moving through the CBAC, and we’re eager to see how He continues to use us as messengers of hope and renewal in our neighborhoods.
For more details and to register, visit the link below. We can’t wait to see you there!
12. Bible Prophecy Class
New Bible Prophecy Class: "Understanding the End Times and Preparing for It."
Sessions running on Wednesdays at 7:00pm until November 27th, this Bible study will be held in the second-floor boardroom, led by Manuel Brayley.
For more information, contact Manuel at 506-260-8944.
13. Christmas Choir Rehearsals
Come One, Come All!
Join us for rehearsals every Sunday after the morning service at 11:45 a.m. in the Choir Room, running until November 24th.
We welcome all singers from Grade 3 and up, including teens, young adults, and seniors! This year, we’ll be performing "He Made a Way in a Manger" at the Combined Service on December 1st and at the City Carol Festival on Wednesday, December 4th.
14. Kids Sing
All children in Grades 3 to 8 are invited to join a new opportunity to learn how to sing and read music! Mr. Steeves will be the instructor, and the young singers will be preparing to perform at upcoming church services, especially during the Christmas season.
We’ll meet in the Choir Room every Tuesday with two-time options: 6:00–6:30 p.m. or 6:30–7:00 p.m.
Choose the time that works best for you!
15. Volunteer Opportunities
Muffin Ministry: Booking for December 2024 and January 2025
On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and your Social Action Team, we extend a heartfelt thank you to our faithful ‘muffin makers’ for serving in this meaningful way.
Our schedule is now open for December 2024 and January 2025, and we are in need of 3 dozen muffins each week. Please package 12 individually wrapped muffins in a large, zip-locked bag labeled “Street Ministry.” Be sure to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. The labeled muffins can be placed in the upright freezer in the main kitchen.
To sign up, click the link below or call the church office at 506-458-8348, and our admin team will be happy to assist with the online registration. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in His name, and we believe that muffins serve as a wonderful way to bless others in His honor.
Help the BSBC Library!
We are looking for volunteers to help in our church library. If you could spare some time to help on Sunday mornings, either before or after church, it would be greatly appreciated. For more details drop by the library and talk to Shirley Graves.
Thank you for considering this ministry opportunity.
Senior Residence Services
We are looking for volunteers to help with church services at our senior residences.
If you love to sing or play a musical instrument, we need you! Volunteering once a month or even once every two months would be a wonderful blessing to this ministry and our seniors.
For more information, including schedules, locations, and times, please contact Doug McAllister, our Senior's Visitation Pastor, at the church or by email at doug.mcallister@bsbc.nb.ca.
Third Sunday Supper
Our Third Sunday Suppers have been going strong, with at least 50 guests attending each meal. However, as we look ahead to 2025, we need more help from individuals or groups willing to serve or host. So far, only one Sunday is covered for the New Year. If you're interested in coordinating a meal but need extra hands, please let us know!
Blessings,
Judy Thompson

16.Fredericton Youth Rally Recap
I’m happy to share the incredible success of this year’s Fredericton Youth Rally (The FYR), which took place on Friday night, October 18th. More than 500 youth, pastors, leaders, and volunteers came together to worship and praise our great God, making this a year of exceptional growth and collaboration for the Kingdom!
The worship band, a talented collective from Douglas Baptist and The Drive, led us in powerful worship, and Rev. Chad Fletcher, a CBAC Pastor and Hillside Staff member, delivered a relevant and impactful message. We were blessed with a dedicated planning committee, including leaders from Corbett Wesleyan, Douglas Baptist, Brunswick Street Baptist, and our host, Smythe Street Church.
Here’s a snapshot of The FYR’s growth over recent years:
• FYR 2024: 25 churches, 401 students, 92 youth pastors/leaders, plus 30 volunteers, band members, and speaker, for a total of 531 attendees.
• FYR 2023: 21 churches, 374 students, 88 youth pastors/leaders, plus 30 volunteers, band members, and speaker, for a total of 501 attendees.
• FYR 2022: 18 churches, 311 students, 58 youth pastors/leaders, plus 30 volunteers, band members, and speaker, for a total of 408 attendees.
God is doing wonderful things here in Fredericton, and we celebrate the unity He is bringing to His Kingdom!
Blessings,
Pastor Nikki
17.Trunk-or-Treat Recap
On October 27th, we successfully hosted our 4th annual Trunk-or-Treat event, and we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed. From donating supplies and decorating vehicles to promoting the event and offering prayers, your support was invaluable. We were thrilled by the impressive turnout, with many participants from our church and an even greater number of local community members joining us. It is always an honor to engage with our community and serve as a beacon of light to those both within and beyond our church. Thank you for helping make this event a wonderful community success!

20.Weekly Financial Countdown
We are deeply grateful to all who have given, as we trust God to provide through the faithful generosity that supports our ministry's vision.
21. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings: November 3
In the Gym, worship team will be led by Greg Keezer. In the Sanctuary, the worship team will be led by Gloria Tranquilla and David Steeves with special music from Beth Snow and the Sanctuary Choir.
This Sunday, we will be celebrating the Lord’s table. Dr. Keith Bodner will be preaching in both services. Of his sermon titled Mountain Climbing, he writes, “Back in the days of Exodus, the Israelites are suffering under a genocidal Pharaoh. But according to God's promise, they are rescued from Egypt, brought through the water, endure temptation in the wilderness, and then arrive at the mountain to hear the revelation of God's character and vision for their lives. It is striking that this same pattern occurs in Matthew 1-4, inviting us to believe the Jesus is inaugurating new exodus to bring us all out of slavery. When we arrive at the Mountain in Matthew 5, we begin to hear the greatest sermon ever, and as we consider the eight beatitudes this morning, we will be inspired to live for Jesus in new and creative ways.”
Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am.
