1. Chinese Congregation’s Grand Opening at Barnabas
Praise the Lord! We are grateful that the Chinese congregation has moved into the Barnabas Centre and began Sunday worship last Sunday. This marks an exciting new beginning! May God greatly bless the Chinese ministry and use it to expand His Kingdom through BSBC. May this new gathering place become a space to spread the Gospel, build up believers, and glorify God!
Please continue to remember us in your prayers, asking God to grant wisdom and strength to lead more people to know His love and truth.
2. Welcome our new Lead Pastor
The Search Committee was pleased to announce that, following the ballot count on October 10, 88.6% of the congregation voted in favor of Rev. Ross Watters for the role of Senior/Lead Pastor. Here are a few of the responses from our congregation regarding Ross’ calling:
I wish to thank the committee for their work and offering the position of Lead Pastor to Pastor Ross. Pastor Ross is lead by God to lead our Church in the foreseeable future in this troubled world. I prayed for this appointment as I believe God is leading Ross and our church to reach out to the un-saved without prescription and with love. We must be a beacon in the community by not being judgmental and showing God's love. -Gordon Elliott
Ross’ calling as our Senior Pastor fills our hearts with joy, and we eagerly look forward to the blessings and guidance he will bring to our community. -Pursey Family
Our family is so excited for the future of our church under Ross’ leadership. We have already seen God’s work through Ross at BSBC and feel truly blessed that he has been called to serve at The Street! -Hoyt Family
As a newer family to BSBC, we are extremely happy to have Pastor Ross as our new Lead Pastor. He and his family are a blessing to many, and we look forward to all that God will continue to do in their ministry. We immediately connected to his missional heart back in April and because of this, we know that BSBC is a place that our family can connect, serve, and grow in our faith. -Flores Family
We are so excited about God’s continued work at BSBC with Ross as our new Lead Pastor. His fresh vision for the church is encouraging and hopeful. -Duguid Family
Pastor Ross lives his life with incredible authenticity, indwelled by the Spirit of God. It is through this same Spirit that God has called His dear servant to help lead our beautiful people at BSBC into a life of deep authenticity with Jesus and others - a life that experiences the love of Jesus and lives it out everywhere. -Melanie Tingley
When a pastor senses a call to a ministry, when a hard-working prayer led search team and a spirit led Deacon's board sense they should call that same pastor, when the congregation strongly supports those recommendations and when I've personally felt the love and support of Ross and Fi for my own ministries flowing from them, I can only be grateful that the Lord put us together to further His purposes in our church in this community. -Rob Vance
If you would like to share a short affirmation of Ross' calling, please email ellie.beaton@bsbc.nb.ca.
3. Mission Month: Proclaim His Name
Howdy Do! Habari! Hola! Bonjour! Good day!
We give thanks to Don Longworth, serving with SIM Canada, for reminding us that deep down, God invites us to go on missions for His glory and because He is so worthy of our obedience! Going out for Him, making disciples, is truly an act of worship and brings real peace and purpose. Where is He calling you to go?
With the final weekend of Missions Month just around the corner, we want to remind you of two important gatherings:
1)Stories from the Mission Field, Desserts, and More!
Hosted by Rev Ross and featuring Chris Johnston, CBM representative for the Atlantic.
When and where? Saturday evening, 6:30–8:00 p.m., in our church gym.
To ensure we all have a sweet time, please consider bringing a dessert or appetizer to share. Tea and coffee will be served.
2)Potluck After the Service
Join us for food, sharing, and fellowship in the church gym following the service.
In the spirit of being loved by the God of all nations, let's fill the tables with appetizers, main courses, and desserts showcasing international flavors!
Have a great day and see you this weekend!
Your BSBC Missions Committee
4. Harvest for the Hungry Update
The Social Action Team and the leaders and participants in BSBC’s New Life Ministry wish to pass on A BIG THANK YOU to the congregation for their generosity and support of this year’s Harvest for the Hungry campaign.
Thanks to you an amazing quantity of non-perishable food items was collected to help re-stock the cupboards of our own New Life Ministry program as well as the Greener Village Fredericton Food Bank.
In addition over $3,035.00 in monetary donations was received which will be divided evenly between New Life and the Food bank.
We are reminded that God loves a cheerful giver, and we are indeed blessed to have such a caring congregation that continuously gives in such a generous and cheerful manner…so, thank you once again.
God is so good.
Social Action Team
5. CBAC Justice Summit
Join us for the upcoming CBAC (Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada) Justice Summit, taking place on November 1-2 in Truro, NS! This year, we're excited to explore the theme “Renewal in the Neighborhood,” focusing on real, practical issues like poverty and the housing crisis.
You’ll leave with valuable tools and a fresh perspective to help discern God-inspired solutions for your own community. The Summit is a powerful experience, especially when attended with a group—whether big or small—from your church.
We believe God is moving through the CBAC, and we’re eager to see how He continues to use us as messengers of hope and renewal in our neighborhoods.

14. CBAC Nominating Process
Hello Church Family,
We are blessed to participate in the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada (CBAC) nominating process, where we help identify capable and gifted individuals to serve in various CBAC Organizations and Committees. Your involvement is essential, as it strengthens the work and mission of the CBAC.
Here’s how you can help: Each region is represented by a CBAC Nominating Committee Regional Representative, and our role is to suggest possible nominees from our church community. If you know someone who embodies the spiritual gifts of wisdom, discernment, and teamwork, please consider nominating them.
Key Requirements for Nominees:
• Must be a member of a CBAC church.
• Must be a believer who has been baptized by immersion.
All nominations must be accompanied by a completed Information Sheet for Prospective Nominees, which will be reviewed by the Regional Committee. The presentation of a name may be made by another person or by the person himself or herself.
How the Nominating Process Works: The CBAC Nominating Committee is composed of nine regional representatives, along with the Executive Minister and the Past President (serving as chairperson). They will prepare a report for the CBAC Assembly, which has the final say on nominations. Churches are encouraged to submit names in writing at least twelve hours before the Annual Meeting if there are additional suggestions.
List of Current Openings:
• Vice-President
• Member, CBAC Council
• Member, Pension and Benefits Board
• Member, Atlantic Baptist Mission Board
• Member, Board of Directors of Canadian Baptist Ministries
• Member, Board of Ministerial Standards and Education
• Member, Board of Governors of Crandall University

15. Giving Update
We are deeply grateful to all who have given, as we trust God to provide through the faithful generosity that supports our ministry's vision.
16. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings: October 27
This Sunday, the worship team will be led by Gloria Tranquilla and David Steeves, with special music from the African Singers.
Chris Johnston will be preaching in the Gym and Sanctuary. Of his sermon, he writes, "Sometimes it’s easy to become so focused on a single task that we fail to see the bigger picture. Sometimes we become so focused on what we can’t do, that we forget what He can do. Sometimes what we need is a new perspective. Through looking at John 6 and reflecting on the early days of CBM, we will see that God is constantly at work in building his Kingdom brick by brick, on earth as it is in heaven!"
Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am.
