On October 20, we have our second annual Fredericton Youth Rally (FYR) and it’s happening at BSBC this year! All of our youth are welcome to join us from 6 – 9 pm and encouraged to bring along their friends. The pre-rally, from 6 – 7:30 pm, includes bouncy castles, French fries, snow cones, games, and so much more!
From 7:30 – 9 pm, the Rally includes games, worship, and a great speaker! Our games will be led by Kade from Corbett Wesleyan. Our musical guest this year is Jachin Israelson. Our worship leaders are the worship team from Douglas Baptist. Our guest speaker is Pastor Luke from Journey Wesleyan, and our Master of Ceremonies is our own Pastor Nikki from BSBC!

7. Financial Report to Sept. 30, 2023
8. Invitation to Prayer
Hello, my name is Debbie Kierstead. I am married to Roger, and we have 7 daughters and 5 grandchildren. I grew up in this church from the time I was 10 and have been here 45 years. I have witnessed many fervent prayers prayed over the years for our church, the body of Christ, and for the lost in this city, our province, nation, and world. Many prayer warriors have occupied these pews. I know God answers prayer.
I would like anyone, young or old, to join me for prayer in the Sanctuary from 12:30 PM to 2 PM starting tomorrow (Thursday, Oct. 12th) daily through the work week until next Friday, October 20th. This is for anyone who would like to pray or to receive prayer ministry. Anyone can drop in for any amount of time in that daily 1.5-hour period. No pressure, but whosoever would like to come, please come! See you there!
9. Social Action Team Update
Thank you
Thank-you to everyone who donated financially or through nonperishable items to our Harvest for the Hungry collection for Thanksgiving. Thanks to your generous donations, the New Life cupboards are not nearly as bare, and we were able to also give many bags of groceries to our neighbours outside the church through the Greener Village Community foodbank. This year, we have raised $1,660.00 so far. Your donations help at a time when many are struggling to pay bills, put food on the table and afford necessities.
Clothing for Souaibou
Souaibou Bakari, the refugee Lori Wightman has been helping support on behalf of BSBC for the past year, is in need of some additional items in his wardrobe. We are looking for donations of good condition men's 32” waist pants, and medium long-sleeved shirts or sweaters for him. Donations of clothing in good condition can be dropped off to any member of the Social Action Team and we will make sure they get to him.
Winter Clothing Donations
UNB is having a Winter Clothing pick up for international students in need of warm clothing.
If you’re interested in donating, we are looking for clean and gently used winter items such as hats, toques, mittens, gloves, scarves, jackets & coats, boots, etc. They can be dropped off at the Student Union Building Ballroom on Tuesday, October 24 between 10:00 am and 4:30 pm. If you cannot arrange drop off at UNB during those hours, please leave them in the bin in the Connections Centre before 8:00 pm on Sunday, October 22, and someone from the Social Action Team will ensure they are dropped off during the on campus drop off time. UNB will have one full day of open house on Wednesday, October 25 for students to drop in and pick up the items.
10. Street Ministry Update
Hello friends of our Sunday night street ministry,
We have great news that we would like to share with you.
For all of you out there who have so faithfully prayed for us, and supplied us with items like batteries, hand warmers, gloves, and hats, in addition to a generous and steady supply of magnificent home made muffins, water, and hot chocolate, you will be encouraged to know that we are not alone in making Sunday night life in the streets a little more bearable.
On two separate occasions this fall, two other great churches joined us in our ministry. After a potluck they had held, Serenity Free Will Baptist Church offered us two dozen packaged hot spaghetti dinners complete with fresh bread, knives and forks and, for the second year in a row, HopeCity Fredericton Church made a huge contribution of 35 winter coats and over 100 “emergency” kits, each containing socks, hats, and gloves, batteries, hand warmers, and soap to be given out once freezing weather is upon us.
All this is in addition to the year-round enormous help offered by the Fredericton Community Kitchen and Kim’s Kitchen in preparing ALL of the sandwiches and snacks that we distribute.
If you know anyone who attends either of the two congregations or helps in the community kitchens, please offer them our sincere gratitude for the blessings they have been to us and the generosity and encouragement they have shown our ministry.
… and keep up YOUR great work making this coming winter less bleak for those living rough in Fredericton.
Thank you,
The Street Ministry Team
Social Action Team
11. Mandarin Baptism
Praise the Lord! We have three brothers and sisters who joined the big family and accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. May our Lord lead their new life and use them to fulfill His will. Praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people, and the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:47)
Blessings,
Pastor Changbin Tian
12. Messages from Pastor Charles
Men's Prayer Breakfast
Every Thursday morning, 7am, join us for a great time of fellowship as we share simple breakfast food, heartfelt prayer requests and praise items and also dive into God's Word together.
It is a very rich time, low in calorie, high in spiritual iron! You know the verse: "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens a friend." (Prov. 27:17)
We gather in the church gym, as it was done when this men's ministry first started, decades ago!
Don’t miss out on your chance to start your Thursdays on the right foot!
Basketball ministry, 11-13 years old, Tuesday evening 6:30-8pm
Apart from being a wonderful place to gather to worship Christ on Sundays, and a great breakfast on Thursday morning, our old gym is an awesome location for some basketball!
Once more this year, all youngsters of BSBC, and their friends, aged between 11 and 13, are invited to join the team of godly coaches, every Tuesday, from 6:30pm until 8pm, for quality hoops training sessions and games. Furthermore, this season, we will wrestle with the book of Proverbs and see how we can learn the art of living skillfully whatever actual conditions we find ourselves in.
Interested in joining or need a bit more information? Reach out to Charles Millette by email, at charles.globetrotter@gmail.com or by phone at 581-232-4284.
Please note that our younger team (8-10) will tip off their season in early November. More details in later October.
PS. If you are interested in joining the coaching team, please let Charles know. There is always room for new coaches who wish to come regularly or once in a while.
13. Muffin Mania: Booking to April
On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way.
Our schedule is now open to April 2024. We still require 3 dozen muffins per week. Please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen.
Please click the link below to sign up to serve in this way or call the church office (506-458-8348) and our admin team will be pleased to do the online registration for you. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for him.
14. Church Family Potluck: Wednesdays, 5:30 pm
Our Church Family Potluck is happening Wednesdays from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. Bring your favourite dish, salad, cookies, cake, fruit, or other treat! This is an intergenerational event for babies to seniors. Come, get to know each other, and invite your friends to come for supper! Gathering starts at 5:15 pm. For more information, contact Anna Marie Colpitts.
15. Sunday School: Sundays at 9:30 am
Sunday School is a time of learning for our children and youth and gives our Pre-K to Grade 12 students age-specific teaching about the gospel. Sunday School will take place from 9:30 – 10:15 am. You can register your children for Sunday School in their classrooms.
Please pick your children up from their classrooms at 10:15 am, check them in for KidzTown or Preschool in the Connections Center, and bring them into the worship services with you.
16. Coffee Time: Sundays at 9:30 am
Please join us for coffee or tea and fellowship on Sunday morning in the Connections Center. For parents & adults there is a tea and coffee time during Sunday school in the Connection Center and family room. We welcome you to join and have a time of fellowship before the service!
17. KidzTown & Preschool Check-Ins/Check-Outs
To bless our leaders and for the safety of our children at BSBC, for the Preschool and KidzTown ministry, please check in your children at the Connections Center for their ministry anytime between 10:00 and 10:15 am before your chosen worship service begins. Our Preschool and KidzTown leaders will collect the children from the gym at 10:45 am. If you attend the sanctuary service, your children will be collected from the Connections Center at this time also and taken to their respective classrooms.
Please take the identification tag to collect your children at the end of the worship service so we can be assured they are leaving with the correct adult.
18. Third Sunday Supper
Dear Friends,
The Third Sunday Supper is going strong with up to 50 guests some Sundays. This is an incredible ministry where we can meet folks in a relaxing and loving atmosphere, while gently planting seeds of faith. In order to continue with this important work, we do need volunteers to help prepare a meal for our guests. They are not fussy and are so appreciative of every meal served. We provide a small stipend of $100.00 to cover some of the costs.
I am now looking at my schedule for 2024. Do you think you and your friends, family or small group could help prepare a meal for TSS? If so, please reach out to me, by phone 506-238-9903 or email judypaul1088@gmail.com.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you.
Blessings,
Judy Thompson
