1. Fall Business Meeting: Wednesday, Oct. 25
Our moderator, Calvin Smith, has called a Fall Business Meeting to be held in the sanctuary on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 6:45 pm. Please join us for our Church Family Potluck in the gym at 5:30 pm. Following our Church Family Potluck, we will open our Fall Business meeting at 6:45 pm in the sanctuary. Calvin will prepare an agenda based on reports from the Board of Deacons and the Board of Management, as well as other committees and teams. We look forward to seeing you there.
2. Blended Family Worship Service: Sunday, Oct. 22
We are very excited to announce our next Blended Family Worship service where all of our church family, young and old, will come together for a celebration service on Sunday, October 22 at 10:30 am. We will join our contemporary, traditional, and Mandarin congregations in the sanctuary as well as our Preschool and KidzTown ministries. A portion of our service will be geared toward our children and youth. We look forward to seeing you there!
3. The Ordination of Pastor Ross Watters: Sunday, Oct. 22
We are thrilled to invite you to attend the Ordination Service of Pastor (soon to be Reverend!) Ross Watters on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
We’ll welcome Rev. Paul Beautyman, mentor to Pastor Ross, who will be our guest speaker for the occasion and there will be a reception in the Gym following the service.

4. Mandarin Baptism
Praise the Lord! We have three brothers and sisters who joined the big family and accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. May our Lord lead their new life and use them to fulfill His will. Praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people, and the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:47)

Men's Prayer Breakfast
Every Thursday morning, 7am, join us for a great time of fellowship as we share simple breakfast food, heartfelt prayer requests and praise items and also dive into God's Word together.
It is a very rich time, low in calorie, high in spiritual iron! You know the verse: "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens a friend." (Prov. 27:17)
We gather in the church gym, as it was done when this men's ministry first started, decades ago!
Don’t miss out on your chance to start your Thursdays on the right foot!
Basketball ministry, 11-13 years old, Tuesday evening 6:30-8pm
Apart from being a wonderful place to gather to worship Christ on Sundays, and a great breakfast on Thursday morning, our old gym is an awesome location for some basketball!
Once more this year, all youngsters of BSBC, and their friends, aged between 11 and 13, are invited to join the team of godly coaches, every Tuesday, from 6:30pm until 8pm, for quality hoops training sessions and games. Furthermore, this season, we will wrestle with the book of Proverbs and see how we can learn the art of living skillfully whatever actual conditions we find ourselves in.

6. Trunk or Treat: Oct. 29
Coming up on Sunday, Oct. 29 from 4 – 5 pm, we will be hosting our 3rd Annual Trunk or Treat event! Please invite your friends and family, whether outside or inside of our church. This community outreach event is open to all!
Cars/Vehicles: We are asking for volunteers who would like to RSVP and then decorate their cars. If you and your family would like to take part in this way, please let Pastor Nikki know by emailing her at nikki@bsbc.nb.ca! If you need ideas for how to decorate your vehicle, Nikki would be happy to send some ideas your way! Please RSVP your car for this event ASAP.
Candy/Treats/Drinks: Volunteers of all ages are welcome to be a part of this! If you would like to donate candy or other treats to the church for this event, please bring your goodies to the church office. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Nikki at nikki@bsbc.nb.ca for more details.
Youth Volunteers: We would like all of our youth to be involved with this event. There will be options to get dressed up in costumes, help people decorate their cars, transport candies, treats, and drinks to the decorated vehicles, eat/drink many treats.

7. Invitation to Prayer
Hello, my name is Debbie Kierstead. I am married to Roger, and we have 7 daughters and 5 grandchildren. I grew up in this church from the time I was 10 and have been here 45 years. I have witnessed many fervent prayers prayed over the years for our church, the body of Christ, and for the lost in this city, our province, nation, and world. Many prayer warriors have occupied these pews. I know God answers prayer.
I would like anyone, young or old, to join me for prayer in the Sanctuary from 12:30 PM to 2 PM starting tomorrow (Thursday, Oct. 12th) daily through the work week until next Friday, October 20th. This is for anyone who would like to pray or to receive prayer ministry. Anyone can drop in for any amount of time in that daily 1.5-hour period. No pressure, but whosoever would like to come, please come! See you there!

9. Muffin Mania: Booking for November & December
On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way.
Our schedule is now open for November & December. We still require 3 dozen muffins per week. Please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen.

Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for him.
10. Church Family Potluck TONIGHT: Oct. 11, 5:30 pm
Our Church Family Potluck is happening Wednesdays from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. Bring your favourite dish, salad, cookies, cake, fruit, or other treat! This is an intergenerational event for babies to seniors. Come, get to know each other, and invite your friends to come for supper! Gathering starts at 5:15 pm. 11. Sunday School: Sundays at 9:30 am
Sunday School is a time of learning for our children and youth and gives our Pre-K to Grade 12 students age-specific teaching about the gospel. Sunday School will take place from 9:30 – 10:15 am. You can register your children for Sunday School in their classrooms.
Please pick your children up from their classrooms at 10:15 am, check them in for KidzTown or Preschool in the Connections Center, and bring them into the worship services with you.
12. Coffee Time: Sundays at 9:30 am
Please join us for coffee or tea and fellowship on Sunday morning in the Connections Center. For parents & adults there is a tea and coffee time during Sunday school in the Connection Center and family room. We welcome you to join and have a time of fellowship before the service!
13. KidzTown & Preschool Check-Ins/Check-Outs
To bless our leaders and for the safety of our children at BSBC, for the Preschool and KidzTown ministry, please check in your children at the Connections Center for their ministry anytime between 10:00 and 10:15 am before your chosen worship service begins. Our Preschool and KidzTown leaders will collect the children from the gym at 10:45 am. If you attend the sanctuary service, your children will be collected from the Connections Center at this time also and taken to their respective classrooms.
Please take the identification tag to collect your children at the end of the worship service so we can be assured they are leaving with the correct adult.
14. Third Sunday Supper
Dear Friends,
The Third Sunday Supper is going strong with up to 50 guests some Sundays. This is an incredible ministry where we can meet folks in a relaxing and loving atmosphere, while gently planting seeds of faith. In order to continue with this important work, we do need volunteers to help prepare a meal for our guests. They are not fussy and are so appreciative of every meal served. We provide a small stipend of $100.00 to cover some of the costs.
I am now looking at my schedule for 2024. Do you think you and your friends, family or small group could help prepare a meal for TSS? If so, please reach out to me, by phone 506-238-9903 or email judypaul1088@gmail.com.

Your Deacons want to affirm that BSBC is equipped to provide Pastoral Care. We are grateful for the engagement of Pastor Ross and Pastor Nikki, and we are blessed to have additional support from Rev. Kevin Culberson, the Baptist Chaplin at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital.

Hospitalizations
Your pastors will only know of hospitalizations if the church office or individual pastors are contacted directly
We’d appreciate you notifying the office if you know of the hospitalization of a member of the BSBC family

If a pastor is needed in an emergency situation, between Monday to Friday, 8:30 am and 4 pm, please contact the church office

17. NextGen Ministry
Children @ BSBC
Scouting Boys Elementary, Aged 5-10 years: Wednesdays, 6:30 – 8:30 pm (Gym)
BSBC offers a scouting program for boys from kindergarten to Grade 5. Outdoor adventures, fun activities, and community service projects are used to teach boys how to live the great commission and to love God and our neighbours. Meetings will be held weekly in the church gym. For more information, please contact the church office at 458-8348 or bsbc@bsbc.nb.ca.
Sunday School: Sundays, 9:30 – 10:15 am
We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! Sunday school returns on October 15. We welcome all of our youth and children to join again at 9:30 am! Please bring your children to their respective areas. There will be someone in the connection center to help direct you to the correct location. Please remember to pick up your children from their classrooms at 10:15 am. Our children will be joining us in our worship services until 10:45 am.
Youth @ BSBC
YOUTH GROUP: Sunday Evenings 6:30 – 8:30 pm
Starting this fall youth group will be happening on Sunday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 pm with doors open at 6 pm in the sanctuary. The new format will run both high school and middle school youth in simultaneous and separate events.
Middle schoolers will remain in the sanctuary for their large theme event from 6:30 – 7:30 pm. We will branch out to the gym and fellowship hall or other areas in the church as necessary. At 7:30 pm, the middle school youth will move to the assembly area, 3rd floor, FLC for a chat and devotional from 7:30 – 8 pm, moving into a hangout time from 8 – 8:30 pm. The youth group evening will end at 8:30 pm when parents pick up their youth.
High schoolers will be in the assembly area, 3rd floor, FLC from 6:30 – 7 pm for a hangout time and moving into a chat and devotional from 7 – 7:30 pm. The high school youth will move to the sanctuary, gym, or fellowship hall for their large theme event from 7:30 – 8:30 pm. Youth Bible Study: Tonight Wednesday, 6:30 pm – 8 pm (Third floor)
Tonight, we continue to go through the book of Philippians for our Youth Bible Study! Youth grades 6 – 12 are welcome to join Pastor Nikki & Alyse Wilton for Bible study on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 8 pm. Even if you did not come last week, you are welcome to come this week, all are welcome! For more information, please reach out to Pastor Nikki at youth.bsbc.nb@gmail.com.
Greenhouse Band/Youth Choir Start-up: Wednesdays, 6 pm (Barnabas Center)
If you are a middle school or high school student interested in learning to sing or play instruments at our monthly Greenhouse Services and/or special events in the Gym and Sanctuary, rehearsal times are from 6:00 – 6:30 pm. Friends Are Us Puppets: Will Resume Late November
Have you ever wondered how a puppet show gets made? All middle and high school youth are invited to join Chris Graves for an hour of fun and fellowship while using our puppets.

BSBC offers a bi-weekly scouting program for middle and high school boys, aged 11 – 18 years. The middle and high school group will meet bi-weekly on Thursday evenings, next evening is October 19. Fredericton Youth Rally: Friday, October 20
On October 20, we have our second annual Fredericton Youth Rally (FYR) and it’s happening at BSBC this year! All of our youth are welcome and encouraged to come! Your youth will not want to miss this rally from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Pre-rally includes bouncy castles, French fries, snow cones, games, and so much more! This is a great time to connect with those in our youth group and those throughout the entire city! Rally includes games, worship, and a great speaker! Youth Greenhouse Service: Sunday, October 29, 10:30am (Barnabas Center)
October 29th is our youth Greenhouse Service kick-off! This is where our youth all come together in our Barnabas Center for a youth-led/youth-run worship service! If your youth would like to volunteer, please reach out to Pastor Nikki at youth.bsbc.nb@gmail.com. We would love to have students greeting, reading scripture, leading prayer time, leading our front icebreaker game, leading worship, and other areas. This is a place for all of our youth to use their gifts and talents! We can not wait to see our youth for this worship time together. Remember to wear your new Tie Dye shirt that we made on September 17! If you were unable to join us for our tie dye event, wear a bright shirt you already have! Trunk or Treat: Sunday, October 29, 4 pm
Trunk or Treat is back on Sunday, October 29th for our 3rd annual event! We would love for our high schoolers & middle schoolers to get involved with this event. We are also looking for volunteers who will RSVP and decorate their cars as stations for giving out treats. If you and your family are willing to decorate and have your car in this event, please contact Pastor Nikki by email at nikki@bsbc.nb.ca to register your vehicle and get some ideas on how you and your family can decorate your vehicle. If you prefer to have a lower profile, we are also looking for donations of treats to be passed out to all our visitors. 18. Fresh Start Young Adults Group
Our Young Adults ministry, Fresh Start, continues to meet on Tuesday nights from 7 - 9 p.m. on the 3rd floor of the Family Life Center. Come along for snacks and social time followed by a Bible study. We would love to see you there!

19. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings: Oct. 15
The gym worship service will be under the musical leadership of Julianne Moore and friends. In the sanctuary, the worship service will under the musical leadership of Gloria Tranquilla and David Steeves, featuring special music by the Sanctuary Choir and Beth Snow, soloist.
In the gym, we will enjoy a sermon from Pastor Keith and the sanctuary will have the pleasure of hearing from Pastor Ross. Both sermons will continue the theme of Thanksgiving as we further consider this unique moment on our annual calendar.
Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m.
20. Celebrate with us!
Our own David Steeves, a Devon Middle School music teacher, is the first winner of the Fredericton Arts Alliance Strunz Award for excellence in art education. The Strunz Award, established to honour the late George and Annette Strunz, recognizes a public-school teacher who makes an extra effort to ensure young people are exposed to the arts. David Steeves will accept the award at a reception on October 19 at the Charlotte Street Arts Center.
