1. Summer Changes for KidzTown & Preschool

As a way to bless our children’s volunteers and leaders, for the rest of this summer, our Children’s ministries, both Preschool and KidzTown will now start at 10:50 a.m.

Both Tina and Melanie will pick up the children from the gym service at this time and escort the children to their respective areas. If you attend the sanctuary service, please bring your children to the Connections Center at 10:45 to meet up with our crew on their way through.

Please still check your children in as usual in the Connections Center before the services.

2. Tidal Impact Update: July 22 – 28

Our youth are looking forward to Tidal Impact and spreading the love of Jesus into the local communities and various outreach programs around Saint John.

Thank you for coming out to our car wash fundraiser on Saturday, July 8. With your help, our team raised $944.00. These funds will go toward registration, ball caps, food, and travel to Saint John. We love you, we love your support, and we think you are all great!

Please pray for our youth and our leaders, and that God can use us to make an IMPACT on the Tidal City of Saint John.

3. Sports Friends Part 2: Charles Millette

Happy Wednesday dear BSBC family!

This week, we will share exciting news of a new soccer ministry happening in Moncton and bring you closer to the ministry and offer prayer requests for the summer. Enjoy the read!

To all: thanks in advance for coming with us through your faithful prayers and support!

NB Sports Ministry Flash News

Meanwhile in Moncton, a group of coaches of First Baptist Moncton is boldly kicking off a weekly soccer gathering for kids and teens, on the grass field of a Presbyterian church. The idea of using soccer to engage with newcomers to Canada is a brilliant one, given that most people who come to us from other nations, are most likely football players and excited to jump on a field, whether they speak English or not!

At this point, we are seeing 10 kids / 5 families from India, Nigeria, Philippines and Canada joyfully come together on Saturday mornings! Pray for the parents and players involved to sense God’s love through the commitment of the coaches.

The National: A Growing Team?

With now two years of active ministry of serving and equipping churches across the nation, Charles is ready to see the Sports Friends Canada team grow, in order to reduce the travel to the West coast and have more freedom to look at expanding in other locations as well.

God is well aware of the situation and seems to have found ideal teammates: a couple residing on Vancouver Island, with a vast pastoral and sports ministry experience. Please pray for the ongoing conversation, for peace and for clarity as this family of 6 truly considers joining SIM.

The National: Summer Road Trip continued…

Here’s a detailed schedule allowing you to pray precisely for Charles & the Family:

  • July 29: Charles’ departure: Saturday morning

  • July 31- Aug 3: Sports camp with disabled kids and teens, Georgetown, ON

  • Aug 7-11: Ministry launch and training in Lethbridge, AB

  • Aug 11-14: Meetings in Calgary + picking up Sarah & the kids!!

  • Aug 15-20: Meetings + preaching in Edmonton

  • Aug 21-25: Sports camp in Grande Prairie, AB

  • Aug 26 - Sept 6: Driving home and visiting supporters

How you can be praying for us…

  1. Wisdom and energy for us as parents & more so for Sarah’s solo-parenting stint.

  2. Clarity of mind during ministry meetings: to know how to best serve the churches.

  3. Continual awareness of God’s spirit and presence: serving out of His Power!

  4. Fun family time & Safety on the road.

Conclusion

If you believe that serving and equipping local churches to make disciples of Jesus through sports makes sense in today’s world, and wish to financially participate to the expansion of the ministry and to the Millette summer plans, you can do so at https://donations.sim.ca/projects/sports-friends-canada or by contacting Charles, by email (charles.millette@sim.org) or phone 581-232-4284.

In Him, by His Grace and for His Glory among all Nations!

The Millette Family

4. Oasis: August 10 – 12, 2023

Each year, the Baptist churches in Atlantic Canada send ‘delegates’ to OASIS, the annual gathering of the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada. This is an annual gathering for worship, discipleship, and to consider how we share together in living out the love of Jesus “everywhere”. Give a read:

We’re excited to welcome you to Oasis on August 10-12, 2023 at Crandall University in Moncton, New Brunswick

Our CBAC family can expect a joy-filled gathering as we celebrate our shared mission and stories of God’s work in this denominational family. We’ll worship together, share updates, discuss and vote on family business, and enjoy fellowship. In addition to the main schedule of activities, we’ll be facilitating special events alongside our partner organizations, as well as fun and engaging programs for kids and youth.

This year we’re thrilled to have Jason Ballard as our guest speaker and to hear a message for our CBAC family from Dr. Terry Atkinson as well.

This year, we can send 10 delegates. To be a delegate for BSBC you must be a member of BSBC. Otherwise, you can attend OASIS as a guest – everything but vote on business. Are you interested in being one of our delegates to OASIS? We are able to provide a stipend of $200 to cover your registration and help with expenses. We have space for eight more delegates.

If you are able to attend, please contact Naomi in the church office (naomi.phillips@bsbc.nb.ca) and she will complete your registration. The deadline for early registration is July 15, 2023.

5. Financial Giving Update: January to June 2023

6. Summer Juice Ministry

Are you looking for a way to meet your church family and get some summer sun? Join the summer juice ministry and provide a cold drink for all after the service.

Come just a bit early to make 3-4 pitchers of iced tea, lemonade and fruit punch from frozen juice (provided). Use paper cups for convenience. Set your cart up at the corner of the kitchen entrance by 11:30ish and the family will find you!

It’s a simple cleanup to wash the pitchers, wipe the cart and bring in the trash can! In the event of wet weather, you can serve from the gym kitchen window. Feel free to buddy up with a friend!

If you would like to participate in this ministry, please contact the church office 506-458-8348 or bsbc@bsbc.nb.ca.

7. Muffin Mania: Booking for August & September

On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way.

Our schedule is now open for August, and September. We still require 3 dozen muffins per week, specifically July 16, July 30 as well as most of August and September. Please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. You can place the labeled muffins in the refrigerator in the main kitchen.

Please click the link below to sign up to serve in this way or call the church office (506-458-8348) and our admin team will be pleased to do the online registration for you. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for him.

8. Pastoral Care for the Summer

While Pastor Greg is on sabbatical, your Deacons want to affirm that BSBC is equipped to provide Pastoral Care.  We are grateful for the engagement of Pastor Ross and Pastor Nikki, and we are blessed to have additional support from Rev. Kevin Culberson, the Baptist Chaplin at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital…
