Dear BSBC family,
After 30 years of faithful puppet ministry, our own Chris Graves is retiring. On Sunday, May 12, we witnessed Chris’s final performance as a puppeteer with the Friends R Us Puppet ministry in the sanctuary. We are so thankful for all the hard work and dedication that Chris has given us over the last 30 years. His leadership and puppeteering ministry will be greatly missed.
We will, however, still get to see his creative side in the sanctuary with his decorating talents and his harmonious music ministry as part of the Sanctuary Choir, Men’s Ensembles, and solo performances.

6. Youth Input Night for Fall Programming: May 30
Hey BSBC Youth!
We want to hear from you! We invite all youth in middle or high school, who attend any of our youth programs at BSBC, to a meeting in your honour. Please join us at a focus group discussion on Thursday, May 30, where you will be asked for feedback on your experience attending youth ministry this year at BSBC and for your thoughts on future programming. The results of this chat will help the church plan our youth ministries and programs for next year so we can help youth at BSBC grow in their relationships with each other and with Jesus.
On Thursday, May 30, we will start with a pizza dinner at 5:30 pm in the gym. Throughout the evening, Bill Morrison will be chatting with us and taking note of any and all thoughts and responses from our students. These notes will be a deciding factor in the fall programming for youth ministry.
Please RSVP with Naomi Phillips in the main office at naomi.phillips@bsbc.nb.ca. In your email, please let us know how much pizza you will need and if you have any food allergies or intolerances.
If you have any questions, please contact our deacon representatives Erin Tingley at erintingley@me.com or Andrew Culberson at andrew.culberson@gmail.com.
Thanks! We look forward to hearing from you!
7. Kidz-In-A-Mission
Hello Dear Church Members,
So, we've got some super exciting news to share! This year, for Kidz-in-a-Mission, we're shaking things up a bit. Instead of our usual global adventures, we're keeping it close to home and helping out our awesome city of Fredericton!
Yep, you heard it right! We're teaming up to support the Fredericton Food Bank by collecting non-perishable food items during May and June. Let's show some love to the families right here in our own backyard who could use a helping hand.
Now, before you think, "Why the change?", check out this cool verse from Corinthians 9:6-11 that's got us all pumped up:
"Think about this: A farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully. And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need, and plenty left over to share with others."
Isn't that awesome? It's all about spreading love and joy, friends!
So, here's the plan: Drop off your donations in the boxes we've set up in the Connection Centre and the KidzTown hallway. Let's fill those boxes to the brim with goodies! And get this - we're even planning a little field trip to the Fredericton Food Bank to hand over our donations. How cool is that? We'll get to see firsthand the impact we're making!
Thanks a million for being part of this amazing journey with us. Let's make a real difference together!
Catch you later!
KidzTown Children, Tina Franca, and Sarah Williams

8. Tech Talks Ministry
Volunteer Opportunity
The Social Action Team is responding to a need identified for technical or digital support for our church family who have questions about the basic operation of cell phones, laptops, tablets, or other digital devices. To that end, we would like to create a support network for seniors or other technically challenged people. This network will be comprised of a list of volunteers who would be willing to come to the church to help out at small information-sharing sessions to guide those in need of some technical guidance.
So, if you have lots of patience, a knack for the digital world, and are willing to share a couple hours of your time, we are looking for you! Please contact Shirley Craft at 506-459-7699 or shirl@nb.sympatico.ca to add your name to a list of volunteers.
Experiencing Technical Difficulties?
Are you experiencing technical difficulties with the basic operation of your cell phone, laptop, tablet, or other digital device? Please add your name to the list by calling Shirley Craft at 506-459-7699, if you would like some assistance or help figuring out how to use your device.
Please note, to protect both the participants and the pros, we will not be able to offer any services with regard to banking or any other items of a confidential nature. Any and all passwords will be entered by participants while the pros avert their eyes.
Please stay tuned for more information on potential information sharing sessions. For more information on Tech Talks, whether as a participant or a volunteer, please contact Shirley Craft at 506-459-7699 or shirl@nb.sympatico.ca.
9. Summer Soccer Ministry
Whether you know every rule of the world's most played sport, namely soccer/ football, (3.5 billion players worldwide!) or only know that most games end with a 1-0 score, (boring!?) but that you love God and love people, this announcement is for you to listen closely to and consider acting upon:
We are in need of assistant-coaches and volunteers for our summer soccer ministry, happening from mid-June to late August, held every week, at Wilmot park, in the later afternoon, early evening.
We need people who are willing to help out the head coaches to make sure that everything goes round!
No soccer skills necessary; just a heart ready to love and to connect with players and parents!
Genuine fun and laughter guaranteed!
Charles promises that it might turn out to be your best evening of the week!
If you are interested or you want more information, communicate with Charles Millette either way, today, or tomorrow! 😉
10. Financial Update: to April 30, 2024
We are still praising God for your faithful giving throughout 2023, an amazing 99% of the budget target for this past year. As we are looking forward to growth in our ministries in 2024, and toward having greater impact in our community, I want to encourage your continued faithful giving to support God’s work in this place.
God bless,
Ken Reimer, Treasurer
11. Greenhill Lake Camp
Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Camp Workdays: GHLC is looking for workers from May 27 to June 21, lunch included. Please contact Alyse Wilton at alyse.wilton@gmail.com.
Camp Needs Air Conditioners: As more and more people move to ductless heat pumps to heat and cool their homes, traditional window insert air conditioner units are becoming surplus. Over the past few years, a number of used air conditioners (in good working order) have been donated to the camp. With just a few more units, all of our camper cabins would be air conditioned! A comfortable cabin on a hot summer's night allows children to sleep better which ultimately leads to a better camp experience! If you would like to donate a good working air conditioner, please call (506) 999-2267 or (506) 463-2267.
For more information, please click the link below.
12. New Life Ministry: GHLC Camp Sponsorship
Spring is coming.......so summer is sure to follow! New Life has four children that would love to go to Green Hill Lake Camp this summer. If you would like to help make this happen, please mark your envelope, or if you give in another way, please identify your gift with GHLC Camper.
Thank you for considering supporting this opportunity for children to attend camp "where Christ is made known".
13. Library: New Non-Fiction Books
Stop by the library on Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 and again from 11:30 till 12:30 pm and check out some of our new non-fiction books!
14. Lost & Left Behind
Have you been looking for that pair of gloves that you just can’t find anywhere? Have you misplaced your glasses? Please check out these photos to see if we can pair these lost items with their owners!
If you recognize any of these items, you can find them in the sanctuary vestibule on Sunday morning or contact the church office at bsbc@bsbc.nb.ca.
Please also note, in the gym hallway, our Lost & Found bin is almost full and the gym hallway closet has a fine collection of sweaters and jackets that have been left behind.
We ask that you take a moment this Sunday to peruse these items to see if you recognize anything. At the end of this month, all of the items that have not been reclaimed will be taken to a charity shop for a new lease on life. Thank you!

This week, for Pentecost Sunday, Pastor Ross will be preaching in the gym on Pentecost. Those in attendance at the gym service will also bear witness to the dedication of Emilia Jane Ann Saunders.
Dr. Keith will be preaching in the sanctuary. Of his sermon entitled “After Easter, 50 Days Later: The Feast of Weeks”, he writes, “As the final installment of our short series “After Easter,” we will build on the first two messages. First, we looked at the contours of the Easter story in Mark 12:1-12, a parable that Jesus tells as he enters the city of Jerusalem on his way to the cross. In the second installment of our series, we reflected on the second coming by hearing the words of Jesus in Mark 13, and again in the parable of the ten bridesmaids in Matthew 25. In part three, we will fast-forward 50 days later and celebrate the Feast of Weeks, or, the Day of Pentecost (meaning “50”). After exploring the background of this special holiday in Exodus and Deuteronomy, we will then turn to the most famous event connected with this day, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2, and suggest a number of ways this incomparable story can be applied to our lives today.”
Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am.
