Pastor Ross will be hosting a baptismal preparation meeting in the family room on Sunday, May 19th at 12:00 noon. If you are interested in being baptized, or if you cannot make the baptismal preparation meeting, please speak to Pastor Ross or one of our other pastors.
2. Puppet Ministry with Chris Graves: May 12 Final Puppet Performance
Dear BSBC family,
After 30 years of faithful puppet ministry, our own Chris Graves is retiring. This Sunday, May 12, we will witness Chris’s final performance as a puppeteer with the Friends R Us Puppet ministry in the sanctuary. We are so thankful for all the hard work and dedication that Chris has given us over the last 30 years. His leadership and puppeteering ministry will be greatly missed.
We will, however, still get to see his creative side in the sanctuary with his decorating talents and his harmonious music ministry as part of the Sanctuary Choir, Men’s Ensembles, and solo performances.
If you or someone you know is interested or feels called to take over leadership of the Friends R Us Puppets, please contact the church office at receptionist@bsbc.nb.ca.
3. Mums for Moms
Flower Donations for Mother’s Day Morning
We invite you to help us celebrate Mother’s Day by placing a mum plant in memory or in honour of a mother you love. You can contact the church office OR use the link below. Please be sure, when remitting your $20/plant, to identify your gift “Mums for Mom” so that your donation will be credited to the correct account. Thank you.
The deadline for donations is Thursday, May 9. These will be acknowledged in the pre-service slide shows on Mother’s Day, Sunday morning, May 12, and then, in this newsletter on Wednesday, May 15.
4. Administrative and Social Media Assistant Opportunity
Brunswick Street Baptist Church (BSBC) is looking for a part-time Administrative and Social Media Assistant to assist our Pastoral and Office Staff and reporting to our Board of Management.
KEY OBJECTIVE
To glorify God by providing administrative and practical support for the pastoral and office staff and BSBC ministries; managing social media and electronic communications, assisting in managing the Church office; and assisting the Board of Management and the Board of Deacons.
Please click below for more information.
5. Greenhill Lake Camp
Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Camp Workdays: April 27 through May 11. Pick a day that works for you. To sign up send Stephen a note at stephen@greenhill.ca. Be sure to pack a lunch. There are lots of chores for every skill set both indoors and out.
Camp Needs Air Conditioners: As more and more people move to ductless heat pumps to heat and cool their homes, traditional window insert air conditioner units are becoming surplus. Over the past few years, a number of used air conditioners (in good working order) have been donated to the camp. With just a few more more units, all of our camper cabins would be air conditioned! A comfortable cabin on a hot summer's night allows children to sleep better which ultimately leads to a better camp experience! If you would like to donate a good working air conditioner, please call (506) 999-2267; or (506) 463-2267.
For more information, please click the link below.
6. Parsley Plant Fundraiser for Greenhill Lake Camp
This Sunday, May 12, Carol Bray will be selling parsley plants in the BSBC parking lot as a fundraiser for Greenhill Lake Camp. See you in the parking lot!
7. New Life Ministry: GHLC Camp Sponsorship
Spring is coming.......so summer is sure to follow! New Life has four children that would love to go to Green Hill Lake Camp this summer. If you would like to help make this happen, please mark your envelope, or if you give in another way, please identify your gift with GHLC Camper.
Thank you for considering supporting this opportunity for children to attend camp "where Christ is made known".
8. Seniors Residences Worship Services: Volunteers Needed
Doug McAllister, our Senior's Visitation Pastor, is looking for volunteers to assist with music for the Seniors Church Services that we currently provide to several Seniors Residences in the city. These services are on Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons from 2:00 pm - 2:30 p.m.
We are not looking for a weekly commitment, so if you could assist with even one service per month that would be great. Anyone who would like to assist who plays a keyboard or guitar, or just loves to sing, please contact Doug.
We are also looking for folks who may want to volunteer to visit with one of our seniors. For further information, please contact Doug at doug.mcallister@bsbc.nb.ca or 506-440-4023.

If you recognize any of these items, you can find them in the sanctuary vestibule on Sunday morning or contact the church office at bsbc@bsbc.nb.ca.
Please also note, in the gym hallway, our Lost & Found bin is almost full and the gym hallway closet has a fine collection of sweaters and jackets that have been left behind.

14. A Time to Pray: Winding Down
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As I alluded in the newsletter last week, this season of my hosting prayer in the sanctuary is coming to a close. This Friday, May 10th will be my last day and I welcome anyone to join me from 12 to 1:30 (or a portion of that time) as this week wraps up. I want to thank all of you who participated in this ministry and to let you know it has been a blessing to be here, and to pray, worship, meditate and share, in the beauty of the BSBC sanctuary, so often, experiencing the sweet presence of God in the stillness. I know there were many who couldn’t physically be present, but took time to pray for BSBC as I was praying at the church and I am very thankful for having had this experience.
Although this time is wrapping up for me, I know that there are so many who pray faithfully in the secret place and I know that God sees you and hears your prayers, and I am thankful for the collective prayer ministry of the church, in all its different expressions.
I believe another season of prayer will open up in the future, and maybe will come in a different way, but we will wait on the Lord in the meantime.
God bless you all,
Debbie Kierstead

Pastor Ross will be preaching in the sanctuary on the Parable of the Sower. Dr. Keith will be preaching in the gym. Of his sermon entitled “After Easter, 50 Days Later: The Feast of Weeks”, he writes, “As the final installment of our short series “After Easter,” we will build on the first two messages. First, we looked at the contours of the Easter story in Mark 12:1-12, a parable that Jesus tells as he enters the city of Jerusalem on his way to the cross. In the second installment of our series, we reflected on the second coming by hearing the words of Jesus in Mark 13, and again in the parable of the ten bridesmaids in Matthew 25. In part three, we will fast-forward 50 days later and celebrate the Feast of Weeks, or, the Day of Pentecost (meaning “50”). After exploring the background of this special holiday in Exodus and Deuteronomy, we will then turn to the most famous event connected with this day, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2, and suggest a number of ways this incomparable story can be applied to our lives today.”
Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am.
