Moving to Level 3

If you're a fan of The Sound of Music, you’ll know these words, “Let's start at the very beginning, it’s a very good place to start…” Given yesterday’s press conference with Premier Higgs and Dr. Russell, it might be tempting to think that we’ve moved back to the “beginning” of Covid. Level 3 restrictions remind us of where we were in March 2020.

I encourage you to think in another way. As I see it, and to be sure, I’m no Covid pundit, we're continuing to move across a continuum of time that brings us closer to the resolution for which we long.

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
— Deuteronomy 31:8

God is with us. As always…past…present…and future.

So, if you find my attempt at positive thinking hard to embrace, please embrace the truth of God’s word. That message is found in both Testaments, numerous times. It’s clearly a message God wants us to hear and to embrace. Faced with our current reality, and as we feel its implications, let the “beginning” of our response be grounded in promises like Deuteronomy 31:8 and the power that comes from knowing that we are NOT alone.

Level 3 @ BSBC

  • Sunday worship is moving online. Both the Contemporary Service (Facebook Live) and the Traditional Service (Youtube) will be available online at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday morning.

  • No groups, of any age, will be meeting in-person at the church facility. Please check with your group leader/chairperson to see if your group is moving online.

  • Please be a regular visitor to thestreetonline.ca for updates and opportunities. Your pastoral staff are working on some unique online offerings and we don’t want you to miss out!

  • Please pray for your leadership team as we navigate these changing times — seeking new ways to minister in these weeks.

How can we help?

While I can’t promise that we can meet every need, I'm confident that as a church family, we want to try. Do you need groceries picked up? Would you like a call each week to check in with you? Do you have a specific prayer request that is relevant to your family, friends or your personal experience?

How can we help ‘bear’ your ‘burden’ in these days? I invite you to contact the church office (458-8348 OR receptionist@bsbc.nb.ca) and we’ll do what we can to stand with you.

How can you help?

Perhaps you’d like to make yourself available to offer help. We can help you help others. Please contact the church office and we’ll put you on the list.

Practice patience. Look for ways to be a blessing in another life. Share your ideas of how you think our church can be a means of blessing and witness in these days. Love, love, love…

Pray.

Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the one who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference.
— Max Lucado

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

“And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” – Romans 8:26-27

The peace and grace of Christ be yours as we navigate the weeks ahead…together.
