2. Missions Partner Update from Reuben & Leah Myles
Hey BSBC,
We wanted to reach out and say a massive THANK YOU for being a part of our supporter team. I’ve attached a 2024 recap above, where you can see ways that your support enabled us to continue in God’s calling on our lives in Asia last year. We’re able to pour into the lives of locals and third culture (missionary) kids alike through Faith Academy in Manila. We’ve particularly seen an abundance of this, as well as God’s palpable faithfulness, in the 2024 season. Happy new year!
Here’s to 2025,
The Myles (+1 on the way)
3. 55+ Luncheon: Jan 20
You’re warmly invited to our upcoming 55+ Luncheon on Monday, January 20th, at 12:00 PM! Join us for a comforting meal featuring ham and scalloped potatoes. For dessert, we will delight in a fresh lemon fluff.
Guest speaker, Dave Whyte, will be talking us through a cross Canada trip. Come for delicious food and stay for wonderful fellowship. We look forward to seeing you there!
Just a couple things… please pick up your dishes and the cupboard tops are not to be used for storage space as this restricts user access. Thank you!
4. Ladies Thursday Evening Bible Study
We’re excited to announce that our Thursday Evening Ladies Bible Study has resumed at 6:30 PM. Join us in the Second Floor Boardroom of the Gym Building as we continue our inspiring journey through the Book of Psalms.
We can't wait to gather again, dive deeper into the Word, and grow in faith and fellowship. See you there!
5. Study on Pastoral Care Update
Christians are called to be godly helpers and provide care and meet the needs of fellow believers. To provide spiritual and emotional support, helpers need knowledge and skills to develop quality helping relationships, which promote healing and wholeness.
This study will focus on two broad topics: Understanding Pastoral Care and Developing Helping Relationships. Topics under Pastoral Care include the following: the definition of pastoral care, its biblical and theological basis, and its aims, objectives, and goals. Under Helping Relationships, the topics include the following: the meaning of helping, motivation and why people behave the way they do, developing empathy and trust, interviewing skills, spiritual formation and using Scripture and prayer in providing care.
Please note the change in start time. All are invited to join the study Sundays, from 9:15 am to 10:15 am in the Family Room, 1st Floor, FLC, for our first weekly class.
Warmly,
Dr. John Stewart
6. Community Potluck: Wednesdays
We’re excited to kick off the new year with the return of our weekly Community Potluck, continuing on Wednesdays! Come share a meal, enjoy great company, and strengthen our community bonds. Setup starts at 5:15 pm and we sit down to eat at 5:30 pm. Cleanup starts at 6:00 pm.
Bring a dish to share and join us every Wednesday for food, fellowship, and fun. We can’t wait to see you there!
7. GriefShare: Jan 16
If you are suffering the loss of a loved one, GriefShare, a Christian-based video-discussion support group, is being offered in the Family Room of the Family Life Center at Brunswick Street Baptist Church starting Thursday, January 16th, 2025 from 7-9 pm for 13 weeks. Please call 458-8348 for information and to register.
8. DivorceCare: Jan 21
If you are going through marital separation, long term relationship break-up or divorce, or know someone who is going through that same traumatic life event, please come to DivorceCare, or invite the individual to consider joining our 13-week DivorceCare program, a ministry which will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 21st, at 6:30 p.m. in the Family Room of Brunswick Street Baptist Church.
Each evening includes the presentation of videos with expert counsellors sharing insights on how to move from hurting to healing. In addition, supportive conversation provides encouragement to participants led by Gloria Tranquilla, Pauline Harvey, and Bryan McWilliam. Each session stands on its own so participants can join any week.
For more information, please contact facilitator, Gloria Tranquilla at momsplace70@hotmail.com or call the church office at 458-8348. You can also register online using the link below.
9. Muffin Ministry
On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way.
Our Street Ministry team need muffins as soon as February 9th for our Sunday night outreach program. Moving forward, we require 3 dozen muffins each week. If you are able to help in this way, please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen.
Please click the link below or call the church office (506-458-8348) and our admin team will be pleased to do the online registration for you. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for Him.
10. Fredericton Christian Men’s Retreat 2025
The Fredericton Christian Men’s Retreat is back and will be held from February 7th to 9th, 2025, at Circle Square Snider Mountain Ranch. This year’s theme is "Listen," and we are excited to welcome Peter Beckwith as our theme speaker. Peter will challenge and inspire us to deepen our understanding of how to listen to God.
Registration forms are available at the Connection Centre or can be requested electronically by contacting Graeme Powell. To register, please reach out to Graeme at 506-663-5436 or via email at gmgraemepowell@gmail.com.
The cost for the retreat is $270, with an optional Friday night dinner for an additional $10. If cost is a concern, sponsorships are available to ensure everyone can participate.
We encourage all men to join us for this incredible weekend of fellowship, learning, and encouragement. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect and grow together. 17. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings: January 19th
This Sunday we are excited to welcome new members into our congregation! In the Sanctuary, the worship team will be led by Gloria Tranquilla and David Steeves with special music from the Sanctuary Choir and Yunjia Dai on the flute. In the Gym, the worship team will be led by Greg Keezer.
Dr. Keith Bodner will be preaching in the Sanctuary, of his sermon titled “A New Year’s Perspective on the Daily Grind” he says, “Although we are early in 2025 and January has hardly begun, no doubt many of us have already failed quite miserably in any new year’s resolutions we might have sheepishly made. So, as we kick off at fresh season at TheStreet, it might be wise to remember that the best “new year’s sermons” tend to honor what God has done in the past while anticipating new and unprecedented growth for the future. This Sunday we will look at a seemingly straightforward text from Matthew 13:33 and discover some fascinating insight that can shift the way we envision our next year as servants of the risen Lord Jesus.”
Rev. Ross Watters will be preaching in the Gym on 2 Thessalonians 1:3-12. We will be looking at Spiritual Formation and becoming more like Jesus in 2025.
Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am.

Your Deacons want to affirm that BSBC is equipped to provide Pastoral Care. We are grateful for the engagement of Rev. Ross and Pastor Nikki, and we are blessed to have additional support from Rev. Kevin Culberson, sanctuary Ministry Coordinator and the Baptist Chaplin at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and Doug McAllister, our Benevolent Coordinator and Senior’s Visitation Pastor.
Here are some suggested approaches:
Hospitalizations

• We’d appreciate you notifying the office if you know of the hospitalization of a member of the BSBC family
Critical Incident
• If a pastor is needed in an emergency situation, between Monday to Friday, 8:30 am and 4 pm, please contact the church office
• Outside of office hours, please contact a pastor directly
Bereavement
• Rev. Ross and Rev. Kevin will be available to support families at a time of loss, to conduct funeral and committal services
• Contact the church office during office hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4 pm
• Outside of office hours, please contact a pastor directly
• We have provided McAdams, Bishops, and York Funeral Homes with the contact information for both Rev. Ross and Rev. Kevin
• If you are not a member of a bereaved family but know of a death within the BSBC family, please contact the church office to make sure your pastors are aware of the need
