A Request from the Salvation Army
This week, our office received a call from Major Deering, pastor of the Salvation Army Citadel here in Fredericton. Major Deering was calling to ask the congregation of BSBC to assist with their annual Christmas Kettle Campaign.
What does it involve?
This involves our church family “adopting” a kettle at a specific location for one day a week between November 18 and December 23. On that day, our commitment would be to providing people to attend the kettle for 6 2-hour shifts on that day. The kettle will be delivered for the first shift and then be picked up at the end of the last shift – so there is no responsibility for handling the money.
Given this era of Covid, I understand that many who have helped with this ministry in past years, may not be willing to engage in such service in a public location for a 2-hour shift.
How to show interest
Before we commit, we need to know that there are people willing to explore being part of this ministry over the 6 weeks.
To that end, please fill out the form below to let us know if you would consider being part of the ministry this season. This form will be open between today and Friday, November 15, at which time we’ll determine if we can accept this responsibility on behalf of our church family. All who register will be advised of the decision made.
Thank you for considering what is an important ministry of the Salvation Army in their work of providing Christmas to many who will be grateful for the consideration.
Pastor Greg
