Get To Know the Watters Family

Watters Family.jpeg

The wait is over and the Watters family have not only ‘landed’ in Fredericton, but are actively settling in. We put Pastor Ross right to work as, this past Sunday, he offered the sermon in the Contemporary Service. This coming Sunday, at our combined service in the sanctuary, we’ll have another opportunity to get to know him.

In our fall mailing, we invited Pastor Ross to share a greeting and introduce the Watters family to the church family. Enjoy this newsy introduction and continue to remember them in prayer as they ‘unpack’ their new life in Fredericton.

Meet the Watters Family

To Our BSBC Church Family,

We are due to arrive this Wednesday (29th) and can’t wait to join with you all so let’s give you the inside track on who we all are…

Ross Watters

I am married to Fi (who I will introduce below) and am Dad to three fantastic girls.  I have been working in youth ministry roles since 2006 and had the privilege of seeing a lot of growth both in numbers and depth of discipleship at each church which has been great! I don’t look like your stereotypical Pastor… I have quite a few tattoos and long dreadlocks but have found these are great ways of breaking down walls and people’s expectations of what a Christian is. On a more personal level, I love music and have an eclectic taste from classical to rock and reggae and most things in between! I also really enjoy a lot of different sports and have played a lot of basketball and football (soccer for the Canadians) but will try anything and have also run a couple of marathons, so I enjoy challenges. I find a lot of joy in board games too and really enjoy playing chess. I came to faith at age 15 and cannot imagine doing anything else with my life but telling people about Jesus and how amazing He is.

Fiona Watters

Fiona (nicknamed Fi), is my wife and we have been married for 13 fun years and together for just under 15. Fi is a fantastic Mum, great cook, super crafty and one of the friendliest and most smiley people I have met. Fi is very organised which we are all incredibly thankful for and in any ministry role I have had, Fi has been a massive support and part of it too as we are very much of the attitude that God calls us as we are one flesh. Very creative, Fi has had a jewellery making business but on top of this loves to crochet, diamond paint, and has even done a stained glass and silversmithing workshop and is beyond excited to live near a Michaels. A great encourager, she can bring sunshine to any day and is so excited to step into this new adventure God has called us to as a family as we come to join you all.

Eden Watters

Eden is our eldest daughter and is 7 (and a half) years old. Eden loves music and to dance and when she is older would love to be an entertainer, nurse or work in the church like Dad. With her exuberant yet caring personality, I think she would be good at all of these roles! Eden loves unicorns and really suits her name which means ‘Delight’ and ‘Made beautiful by God’. Eden is very excited to come to Canada and meet lots of new friends and play in ‘really big snow’, although my one concern is how she is going to do this while wearing a sparkly dress and heels…

Ariel Watters

Ariel is our middle daughter and is 4 years old. She fits the second child stereotype well and is definitely our ‘out there’ child. Adventurous, fun, cheeky and ever so slightly wild, when she goes wide eyed with a cheeky side smile you know she is up to something! Ariel is also very sweet and loves to share and look after people when they need some love. Similar to Eden, she really suits her name which as well as being an alternate name for Jerusalem also means ‘Lion of God’. I would definitely say that Ariel is happy to fiercely stand for what she believes is right, but she also causes more smiles a day through her fun and goofy nature than most people I have met. Ariel loves being outdoors and getting messy and an afternoon jumping in puddles or playing at a mud kitchen is as good as life gets!

Zion Watters

Zion is our baby! She is currently 8 months old and is affectionately known within the family as ‘Happy’. Her favourite things to do are smile and eat (but not baby food….). Obviously, her name refers to mount Zion but also means “God’s dwelling place” and this is our prayer for her life. Zion loves a cuddle and really loves her sisters and we are looking forward to hearing her grow up with a wee Canadian accent!

Cav Watters

Cav, our dog, is a miniature English Bull Terrier and looks a lot like Bullseye, the dog from Oliver. I apologise in advance… but he is named after the Cleveland Cavaliers who I have supported since 2008 due to connections with Young Life in Cleveland! Cav is very excitable and affectionate and will be travelling to join us a couple of weeks after we are over to allow us to settle in.

We are so excited to be coming to meet in-person the many friends we’ve made electronically.  The openness and interest of the BSBC family have instilled in us an anticipation of great blessing as we work together for the Kingdom.

Sincerely, Clan Watters
