1. Blended Worship, Baptisms, Grad Sunday Celebrations and Church Family BBQ: Sunday, June 9

What a great day in the house of Lord! Last Sunday, Brunswick Street Baptist Church offered a blended worship service in the sanctuary and it was packed! We had over 330 people here with us on Sunday. It was so good to see so many people who love the Lord attending our service. We enjoyed listening to the Junior Handbell Choir who opened our service.

We witnessed Pastor Ross, Pastor Nikki, Dr. Keith and Pastor Changbin perform 10 Believer’s Baptisms! We heard the most wonderful testimonies of how God was at work in and around the lives of these special people.

This year, we celebrated with 24 graduates. Pastor Nikki and some of our Grade 12 Graduates came up and spoke about their future plans. We had the opportunity to celebrate with a slide show of our college and university graduates. If you are a graduate and did not pick up your study Bible or your lawn sign on Sunday, please contact the church office at 506-458-8348 or receptionist@bsbc.nb.ca.

To celebrate all of the festivities, we served our church family barbequed hotdogs in the gym. We served 65 dozen hotdogs with enough left over for the youth group pool party and the homeless shelter. The children didn’t seem to miss the bouncy castle as they were entertained with face-painting, balloon animals and Sno-cones.

A huge thank you to everyone who willing gave of their time to make the BBQ happen! I think it was a wonderful time of celebration and it was great to see so many people there - with smiles on their faces. Teamwork makes the dream work!!!

4. A Message from our Board of Deacons: Children’s Ministry

The Board of Deacons would like to thank our Children’s Ministry Coordinators, Tina Franca, Sarah Williams, and Mel Tingley, for their leadership and ministry to our children in recent years. We appreciate the love that these special ladies poured into our children during their time in these roles at BSBC.

Our Children’s Ministries will be going through some changes and transitions in the next few weeks and months as our coordinators will be moving on from these positions. Tina and Sarah will be finished as Elementary Coordinators on Sunday, June 23, and Mel will be finished as Preschool Coordinator by mid-summer.

Please continue to pray for these individuals as they continue to follow God’s leading in the next part of their Faith journeys. Please also continue to pray for BSBC and the Board of Deacons as we seek God’s will for the next phase of leadership in our Children’s Ministries.

5. Summer Juice Ministry

Now that the summer weather has arrived, we will start offering our Summer Juice Ministry. After Sunday worship services, we will be serving some cold juice, iced tea, and water from the parking lot. Join us for some fun family fellowship.

Please help us to take care of God’s earth; remember to place your used juice cups in the designated recycling bin beside the juice cart or in the main kitchen.

6. Kidz-In-A-Mission

Hello Dear Church Members,

So, we've got some super exciting news to share! This year, for Kidz-in-a-Mission, we're shaking things up a bit. Instead of our usual global adventures, we're keeping it close to home and helping out our awesome city of Fredericton!

Yep, you heard it right! We're teaming up to support the Fredericton Food Bank by collecting non-perishable food items during May and June. Let's show some love to the families right here in our own backyard who could use a helping hand.

Now, before you think, "Why the change?", check out this cool verse from Corinthians 9:6-11 that's got us all pumped up:

"Think about this: A farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully. And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need, and plenty left over to share with others."

Isn't that awesome? It's all about spreading love and joy, friends!

So, here's the plan: Drop off your donations in the boxes we've set up in the Connection Centre and the KidzTown hallway. Let's fill those boxes to the brim with goodies! And get this - we're even planning a little field trip to the Fredericton Food Bank to hand over our donations. How cool is that? We'll get to see firsthand the impact we're making!

Thanks a million for being part of this amazing journey with us. Let's make a real difference together!

Catch you later!

KidzTown Children, Tina Franca, and Sarah Williams

9. Tech Talks Ministry

Volunteer Opportunity

The Social Action Team is responding to a need identified for technical or digital support for our church family who have questions about the basic operation of cell phones, laptops, tablets, or other digital devices. To that end, we would like to create a support network for seniors or other technically challenged people. This network will be comprised of a list of volunteers who would be willing to come to the church to help out at small information-sharing sessions to guide those in need of some technical guidance.

So, if you have lots of patience, a knack for the digital world, and are willing to share a couple hours of your time, we are looking for you! Please contact Shirley Craft at 506-459-7699 or shirl@nb.sympatico.ca to add your name to a list of volunteers. You will be asked to provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check before meeting with the participants, the cost for which will be reimbursed by the church.

Experiencing Technical Difficulties?

Are you experiencing technical difficulties with the basic operation of your cell phone, laptop, tablet, or other digital device? Please add your name to the list by calling Shirley Craft at 506-459-7699, if you would like some assistance or help figuring out how to use your device.

Please note, to protect both the participants and the pros, we will not be able to offer any services with regard to banking or any other items of a confidential nature. Any and all passwords will be entered by participants while the pros avert their eyes.

Please stay tuned for more information on potential information sharing sessions. For more information on Tech Talks, whether as a participant or a volunteer, please contact Shirley Craft at 506-459-7699 or shirl@nb.sympatico.ca.

UPDATE: As of June 9, we have received $2,355 for GHLC Sponsorship…that’s full sponsorship for 2.8 campers – Just 1.2 campers to go! We will keep you updated on our progress!

Thank you for considering supporting this opportunity for children to attend camp "where Christ is made known".

11. Muffin Ministry

On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way.

Our schedule is open from now until September 8, 2024. We require 3 dozen muffins each week. If you are able to help in this way, please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen.

Please click the link below or call the church office (506-458-8348) and our admin team will be pleased to do the online registration for you. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for him.

16. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings: June 16

This Father’s Day Sunday, the worship music in the gym will be led by Illyana Vermeersch. In the sanctuary, the worship team will be led by Gloria Tranquilla and David Steeves with special music from Eric Dunfield and a male double quartet.

Pastor Ross will be preaching in the gym on the next parable in the series. Dr. Bodner will be preaching in the sanctuary. Of his sermon, titled “The Latest Survey”, he writes, “I recently came across a survey question, "What is the biggest concern for believers in 2024?" The responses ranged from conflicts in the Middle East and around the world, to economic and moral crises, all the way to stress and mental health. This Sunday we will explore this question through the eyes of the early church in general, and through the lens of a minor character in particular, and come away with a surprising and encouraging response!”

Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am.

17. Pastoral Care

Your Deacons want to affirm that BSBC is equipped to provide Pastoral Care. We are grateful for the engagement of Rev. Ross and Pastor Nikki, and we are blessed to have additional support from Rev. Kevin Culberson, the Baptist Chaplin at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and Doug McAllister, our Benevolent Coordinator and Senior’s Visitation Pastor.

• We’d appreciate you notifying the office if you know of the hospitalization of a member of the BSBC family

Critical Incident

• If a pastor is needed in an emergency situation, between Monday to Friday, 8:30 am and 4 pm, please contact the church office

• Outside of office hours, please contact a pastor directly

Bereavement

• Rev. Ross and Rev. Kevin will be available to support families at a time of loss, to conduct funeral and committal services

• Contact the church office during office hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4 pm

• Outside of office hours, please contact a pastor directly

• We have provided McAdams, Bishops, and York Funeral Homes with the contact information for both Rev. Ross and Rev. Kevin

• If you are not a member of a bereaved family but know of a death within the BSBC family, please contact the church office to make sure your pastors are aware of the need
