1. BSBC Blended Worship, Baptism and Grad Sunday Celebration & Church Family BBQ: Sunday, June 9

This spring season of ministry is drawing to a close with much to celebrate, so let’s have a celebration! Join us for a blended worship service in the sanctuary on Sunday, June 9. We will hear testimonies of God at work and witness ten baptisms. We will listen to the Junior Handbell Choir and celebrate our 2024 graduates. Join us in celebration at our Church BBQ after the celebration service.

You’ll enjoy BBQ-ed hotdogs, chips, veggies, and ice cream sandwiches. Seniors will find special seating under tents next to the sanctuary building. Parents, your kiddos will enjoy the bigger-than-life “bouncer” and other fun activities — like face painting. There’s a rumour that there might even be Sno-cones. Parents, we apologize in advance, but we’re sure your kids won’t mind!

If you’re new to BSBC, this is a great way to get to know people. If you’ve been here “forever,” be on the lookout for people you don’t know…and get to know them.

We would love to have a new church family photo taken this day and look forward to seeing you here!

2. Meet Ellie Beaton!

My name is Ellie Beaton, and I am thrilled to join the BSBC team as the Community Child & Youth Worker Summer Student. I am passionate about physical fitness, my faith, and exploring new experiences. This summer, I aim to use my passions to foster strong connections with the youth and promote a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment.

Having grown up as a part of the Woodstock Baptist Church, I was fortunate to benefit from their thriving youth program, which has shaped me into the person I am today. Through mission trips to Toronto, Halifax, and local initiatives, I learned the importance of loving God and loving people (Matt 22:34-40). I am committed to embodying this motto daily as I integrate into the welcoming BSBC community.

Before graduating from Woodstock High School, I engaged in numerous volunteer activities supporting local youth. This included coaching basketball, being a leader in vacation bible school, and spearheading a youth service initiative to build a fence around the Sanctuary House.

Currently, I am in my fourth year of Kinesiology at the University of New Brunswick Fredericton, with aspirations to pursue a PhD in chiropractic following graduation. My goal through chiropractic care is to help people, thereby honoring God.

I am excited about the opportunity to serve as the Community Child & Youth Worker Summer Student at BSBC. I look forward to contributing to and becoming part of this vibrant community.

3. Youth Input Night for Fall Programming: May 30

Hey BSBC Youth!

We want to hear from you! We invite all youth in middle or high school, who attend any of our youth programs at BSBC, to a meeting in your honour. Please join us at a focus group discussion on Thursday, May 30, where you will be asked for feedback on your experience attending youth ministry this year at BSBC and for your thoughts on future programming. The results of this chat will help the church plan our youth ministries and programs for next year so we can help youth at BSBC grow in their relationships with each other and with Jesus.

On Thursday, May 30, we will start with a pizza dinner at 5:30 pm in the gym. Throughout the evening, Bill Morrison will be chatting with us and taking note of any and all thoughts and responses from our students. These notes will be a deciding factor in the fall programming for youth ministry.

Please RSVP with Naomi Phillips in the main office at naomi.phillips@bsbc.nb.ca. In your email, please let us know how much pizza you will need and if you have any food allergies or intolerances.

If you have any questions, please contact our deacon representatives Erin Tingley at erintingley@me.com or Andrew Culberson at andrew.culberson@gmail.com.

Thanks! We look forward to hearing from you!

4. A Message from the Board of Deacons

The Board of Deacons wishes to express their thanks to everyone who attended the meeting with CBAC staff on Thursday, May 23. We are also grateful to Dr. Greg Jones and Dr. Garth Williams, and we trust that their time with us was helpful and affirming as we continue to seek God’s will and His plan for our church. The Board of Deacons is committed to providing opportunities for the church to move forward together and foster unity under God. We will continue to engage with CBAC and the church family. Working together, the Lord can accomplish great things through us.

5. A Message from the Board of Management

Non-Sunday Parking at Brunswick Street Baptist Church

We offer paid monthly rental parking spaces, and also wish mid-week parking to be available for our own members and visitors. To ensure that parking spaces are always available for our use, we must monitor and advise non-renters and non-church members that our parking lots are private property, and not for public use at any time.

Visitors for church functions are always permitted. We have a reciprocal parking agreement with McAdams and another with the Lofts on York. We try to be mindful of activities where we have non-members present, like basketball, ladies exercise class and other BSBC ministries.

Our parking lots are not for use by non-member acquaintances, friends or family members of BSBC members or by the general public.

Our parking lots are available for occasional non-church use Monday to Friday, evenings, and Saturdays for all members and adherents who display their parking permit hang tag. Without a displayed hang tag, sometimes we may get it wrong, and put a reminder notice on your car.

Please help us to get it right by displaying your hang tag whenever you visit the church:

1. Parking permit hang tags for church members and adherents are obtained from the Church Office.

2. There is a nominal $10 fee to cover the cost of the hang tag

3. Parking permit hang tag must be visible at all times.

Thank you,

from your Board of Management

6. Kidz-In-A-Mission

Hello Dear Church Members,

So, we've got some super exciting news to share! This year, for Kidz-in-a-Mission, we're shaking things up a bit. Instead of our usual global adventures, we're keeping it close to home and helping out our awesome city of Fredericton!

Yep, you heard it right! We're teaming up to support the Fredericton Food Bank by collecting non-perishable food items during May and June. Let's show some love to the families right here in our own backyard who could use a helping hand.

Now, before you think, "Why the change?", check out this cool verse from Corinthians 9:6-11 that's got us all pumped up:

"Think about this: A farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully. And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need, and plenty left over to share with others."

Isn't that awesome? It's all about spreading love and joy, friends!

So, here's the plan: Drop off your donations in the boxes we've set up in the Connection Centre and the KidzTown hallway. Let's fill those boxes to the brim with goodies! And get this - we're even planning a little field trip to the Fredericton Food Bank to hand over our donations. How cool is that? We'll get to see firsthand the impact we're making!

Thanks a million for being part of this amazing journey with us. Let's make a real difference together!

Catch you later!

KidzTown Children, Tina Franca, and Sarah Williams

Join us this summer, July 2-5, for SCUBA, a half-day camp from 9 AM to 12 PM, free of cost. All kids from kindergarten to grade 5 are welcome to dive into our underwater-themed adventure and discover friendship with God. Doors will be open at 8:45 AM. Registration is now open!

We are looking for volunteers to show the kids what living water is all about! Register for volunteering at the link below.

8. A Class on Curious Verses Bible Study: Last Class Tonight!

At times Biblical verses may seem puzzling, difficult or curious. This class will look at selected verses and their original words to seek better understanding and to allow the scriptures to speak more clearly to us. Please join David Clark who is leading this class on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm. Our last class will be May 29.

9. Tech Talks Ministry

Volunteer Opportunity

The Social Action Team is responding to a need identified for technical or digital support for our church family who have questions about the basic operation of cell phones, laptops, tablets, or other digital devices. To that end, we would like to create a support network for seniors or other technically challenged people. This network will be comprised of a list of volunteers who would be willing to come to the church to help out at small information-sharing sessions to guide those in need of some technical guidance.

So, if you have lots of patience, a knack for the digital world, and are willing to share a couple hours of your time, we are looking for you! Please contact Shirley Craft at 506-459-7699 or shirl@nb.sympatico.ca to add your name to a list of volunteers.

Experiencing Technical Difficulties?

Are you experiencing technical difficulties with the basic operation of your cell phone, laptop, tablet, or other digital device? Please add your name to the list by calling Shirley Craft at 506-459-7699, if you would like some assistance or help figuring out how to use your device.

Please note, to protect both the participants and the pros, we will not be able to offer any services with regard to banking or any other items of a confidential nature. Any and all passwords will be entered by participants while the pros avert their eyes.

Please stay tuned for more information on potential information sharing sessions. For more information on Tech Talks, whether as a participant or a volunteer, please contact Shirley Craft at 506-459-7699 or shirl@nb.sympatico.ca.

10. Summer Soccer Ministry

Whether you know every rule of the world's most played sport, namely soccer/ football, (3.5 billion players worldwide!) or only know that most games end with a 1-0 score, (boring!?) but that you love God and love people, this announcement is for you to listen closely to and consider acting upon:

We are in need of assistant-coaches and volunteers for our summer soccer ministry, happening from mid-June to late August, held every week, at Wilmot park, in the later afternoon, early evening.

We need people who are willing to help out the head coaches to make sure that everything goes round!

No soccer skills necessary; just a heart ready to love and to connect with players and parents!

Genuine fun and laughter guaranteed!

Charles promises that it might turn out to be your best evening of the week!

If you are interested or you want more information, communicate with Charles Millette either way, today, or tomorrow! 😉

11. New Life Ministry: GHLC Camp Sponsorship

Spring is coming.......so summer is sure to follow! New Life has four children that would love to go to Green Hill Lake Camp this summer. If you would like to help make this happen, please mark your envelope, or if you give in another way, please identify your gift with GHLC Camper or Sponsorship.

UPDATE: As of May 28, we have received $1,745 for GHLC Sponsorship…that’s full sponsorship for 2.3 campers – Just 1.7 campers to go! We will keep you updated on our progress!

Thank you for considering supporting this opportunity for children to attend camp "where Christ is made known".

12. Muffin Ministry

On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way.

Our schedule is open from now until September 8, 2024. We require 3 dozen muffins each week, specifically June 9 and June 23. If you are able to help in this way, please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen.

Please click the link below or call the church office (506-458-8348) and our admin team will be pleased to do the online registration for you. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for him.
