2. March Break

Next week is March Break! March Break, sometimes called “Spring Break”, is “free time” for students and adults to consider taking a pause, and gives the opportunity to explore new activities, and offers the chance for quality family time. March Break applies to elementary and secondary school students, while many post-secondary institutions schedule their reading weeks around similar dates. This is an opportunity for students to recharge and enjoy the beginnings of springtime before heading back for the rest of the school year.

With March Break from March 3–7, several church programs will be on pause.

The Church Community Potluck will be on hiatus on March 5 and return on March 12.

Curious Verses Bible Study will be on pause March 5 and return on March 12.

Sunday School for preschool and elementary students is canceled on March 2 and 9, while youth and adult classes should check with their leaders for details.

Mid-week child and youth programs will pause for March Break and resume the following week, except for Sports Friends with Charles Milette, which will continue as usual.

Please note that Youth Group will continue to meet on Sunday evenings as scheduled.

Enjoy the break!

3. Community Volunteer Income Tax Program Clinics

Once again, BSBC will be holding free income tax clinics under the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP).

This is a free service to low- and modest-income earners, including students and newcomers to Canada.

When: Tuesdays in March and April from 1 pm to 5 pm in the gym.

We are always looking for volunteers interested in helping people with their taxes. We need people who can help ANY TIME between 12:30 pm and 5:00 pm on Tuesday afternoons. You do not have to be available every Tuesday. Jobs vary from helping to greet clients to filing taxes. We will help train you as needed.

COVID safety protocols are in place, and we provide the necessary masks, etc. as needed.

If you can help, please call the Brunswick Street Baptist Church office at 506-458-8348 or contact us directly.

Finally, if you or someone you know could benefit from this free service, we will be happy to help.

Sincerely,

Ron Smith Shelley Pronk

7. BSBC Income Tax Receipts for Jan/Feb 2025

Dear Church Family,

Thank you for your faithful giving to Brunswick Street Baptist Church. We sincerely appreciate your support for our ministries and programs.

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) confirms that, given the disruption of the Canada Post strike, it will proceed with the Department of Finance’s announcement of the extension to Feb 28, 2025, for 2024 charitable donations. If you would like to receive a statement for your giving in January and February 2025, please email our Financial Secretary, Laura McGuire at laura.mcguire@bsbc.nb.ca with your request. CRA states that any donations made up to Feb 28, 2025, and not claimed on 2024 personal income returns can still be claimed on 2025 returns or carried forward. For more information, please click here: Extension of 2024 charitable donations - Canada.ca

Thank you,

8. Thursday Evening Ladies Bible Study

February 27 at 6:30 PM: We'll begin a six-week series leading up to Easter titled What the Women Saw. This study, available on the RightNow Media app, explores Jesus' ministry through the perspectives of women in the Bible, including Mary, Martha, and Mary Magdalene. You'll discover how Jesus saw, valued, and empowered these women—and how he does the same for you today.

We look forward to seeing you there!

9. Muffin Ministry

On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way.

Our Street Ministry team need muffins as soon as March 30th for our Sunday night outreach program. Moving forward, we require 3 dozen muffins each week. If you are able to help in this way, please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen.

Please click the link below or call the church office (506-458-8348) and our admin team will be pleased to do the online registration for you. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for Him.

10. TeachBeyond Mission Organization

TeachBeyond is the Mission Organization who sponsors Reuben, Leah & Theodore Myles who are currently stationed in the Philippines.

These leadership positions are crucial in advancing the Gospel and equipping the next generation of global leaders. Do you or someone you know have a background in school administration? We'd love your help in spreading the word!

TeachBeyond is a ministry run by Ruben & Leah Miles, who are stationed in the Philippines.

Thank you for being part of this incredible mission!

It has the potential to be an amazing win for our youth ministry, church and for the entire host community.

15. Pastoral Care

Your Deacons want to affirm that BSBC is equipped to provide Pastoral Care. We are grateful for the engagement of Rev. Ross and Pastor Nikki, and we are blessed to have additional support from Rev. Kevin Culberson, sanctuary Ministry Coordinator and the Baptist Chaplin at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and Doug McAllister, our Benevolent Coordinator and Senior’s Visitation Pastor.

Here are some suggested approaches:

Hospitalizations

• Your pastors will only know of hospitalizations if the church office or individual pastors are contacted directly

• We’d appreciate you notifying the office if you know of the hospitalization of a member of the BSBC family

Critical Incident

• If a pastor is needed in an emergency situation, between Monday to Friday, 8:30 am and 4 pm, please contact the church office

• Outside of office hours, please contact a pastor directly

Bereavement

• Rev. Ross and Rev. Kevin will be available to support families at a time of loss, to conduct funeral and committal services

• Contact the church office during office hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4 pm

• Outside of office hours, please contact a pastor directly

• We have provided McAdams, Bishops, and York Funeral Homes with the contact information for both Rev. Ross and Rev. Kevin

• If you are not a member of a bereaved family but know of a death within the BSBC family, please contact the church office to make sure your pastors are aware of the need

Parish Nurses

  • The parish nursing ministry is intended to support and strengthen the spiritual, physical and emotional well-being of individuals, families, and the congregation at BSBC. Roz Thompson and Cheryl Gibson, your parish nurses, collaborate with members of the pastoral team promoting health and faith, to facilitate the healing of the body, mind, and spirit.
