A message from Pastor Steve
Hello to everyone,
As I write from my desk here at the church before taking some time off, I am grateful for you, my church family. I’m glad we have found ways to remain connected as much as possible and I pray you are all handling the isolation well. I’ve enjoyed hearing some stories of how families are making the best of this situation, with more time to spend together.
I spent some time reaching out to as many people as I could over the phone last week. What I realized is that calling people on the phone has become lost in our high tech world. Yes, technology has made it easier to connect when we can’t be in close proximity, but there’s something about a personal phone call that is underrated. I am grateful for the many meaningful conversations I was able to have with those who I connected with and how pleased they were to receive a call. I encourage all of you to engage in the caring church initiative to be a blessing, and to be blessed!
I am praying for our seniors who experts have told us are at greater risk and I hope they are finding ways to bide their time well as visitation has been halted in our senior care homes. I also pray for those who are living alone without much outside contact…who may be safer in this, but also more lonesome! Thanks to all who have adopted a special someone to keep in touch with.
I also pray for those on the frontlines working in health care, including my wife Cindy who is an Emergency Room nurse, and many others in and connected to our church family …our medical professionals do not get to choose to work from home and are at greater risk simply by proximity. Please continually keep them in your prayers.
Finally, I thank you all for your prayer support for each other, and for your church staff, including Pastor Greg, Dr. Bodner, Jim McLellan, Jon Wilton, Janet Mitchell, Naomi Phillips and myself and other leaders in our ministries. I feel we are doing ok and encouraging one another during these challenging times… God is so good and knowing our hope is in Christ, we can continue to find the blessings in our midst.
As I take a bit of time for vacation, I pray God continues to sustain us all and to provide us with His comfort and care.
In Christ we serve,
Pastor Steve
