We’re thrilled to announce that Ellie will be continuing with us this year as our Administrative and Social Media Assistant!

Ellie, who is also a full-time student, will be working with us from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. To accommodate her schedule, please note that the Newsletter will now be sent out on Thursdays instead of Wednesdays.

A big thank you to Ellie for stepping into this role!

Blessings,

2. Sunday School Kick-Off: September 15

On September 15 Sunday School begins! This is a time of learning for our children and youth. It gives our Pre-K to Grade 12 students age specific teaching about the gospel. Sunday School will take place from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. For parents and adults there is a tea and coffee time during Sunday School in the Connection Center and family room.

We welcome you to join and have a time of fellowship before the service!

3. Volunteers Needed for Fall Security

Hello BSBC Family,

We are looking for volunteers who can commit to security one night a month from 6-9pm. If you are willing, please contact Dwight Colwell via email colwelldwight@gmail.com.

4. Celebrating Killarney Lake Baptisms

On Sunday September 1st, after our blended morning worship service together in the Sanctuary, we had a great celebration at Killarney Lake!

After Church, we gathered at the beach at Killarney Lake in the rain to start with, for a great worship time together lead by Mike Bravener, followed by 5 baptisms in the Lake!

We had Chengyi Qu, Barbara Wright, Sunyoung Lee, Angus Patterson and Chloe McKellar take the step of baptism in their faith journeys cheered on and celebrated by their church family.

It was a beautiful celebration where we truly experienced God’s grace in the lives of these wonderful people and also in our surroundings. We arrived to some pretty heavy rain, had our worship time together in light rain as it eased off and then baptised people in the sun!

It was a beautiful and Spirit-filled occasion and thank you to all who came along to make it such a special day!

5. Fall Ministries

Please call 458-8348 for information and to register.

WMS Monthly Meeting: September 9

The Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) of Brunswick Street Baptist Church would like to invite all ladies to join us on Monday, September 9 at 1:00 pm for a potluck in the gym.

Pastor Nicki will share about her experience at Oasis. All ladies are welcome – we look forward to seeing you there!

BPSA Scouts: September 11

BSBC offers a scouting program for boys from kindergarten through high school, featuring outdoor adventures, fun activities, and community service projects. This program aims to teach boys how to live out the great commission by loving God and our neighbors.

Scout meetings will be held weekly on Wednesdays in the church gym. Otters, for boys aged 5 to 7, and Timber Wolves, for boys aged 8 to 10, will meet from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. On that night, registration will take place in the foyer near the gym. Registration forms will be available, and we will be ready to collect the $40 registration fee.

Woodsmen, for boys aged 11 and up, will also register on September 11, 2024, but their meetings will begin the following week.

If there are any questions, please contact Dale Wilson at wilsondaletreefarm@gmail.com.

55+ Luncheon: September 16

Formerly known as Seniors Luncheon, the 55+ Luncheon meets on the third Monday of the month from September to May, unless it conflicts with special events. Our target group is our church family and their friends in the 55+ age grouping. We have a time of fellowship, a meal prepared on site, light entertainment and a short devotional. Our Kitchen Crew meet from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm in the Main Kitchen, and our guests meet from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm in the gym.

We are excited to announce that our first luncheon date is Monday, September 16th. We look forward to seeing you there!

Divorce Care: September 17

If you are going through marital separation, long term relationship break-up or divorce, or know someone who is going through that same traumatic life event, please come to DivorceCare, or invite the individual to consider joining our 13-week DivorceCare program, a ministry which will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the Family Room of Brunswick Street Baptist Church.

Each evening includes the presentation of videos with expert counsellors sharing insights on how to move from hurting to healing. In addition, supportive conversation provides encouragement to participants led by Gloria Tranquilla, Pauline Harvey, and Bryan McWilliam. Each session stands on its own so participants can join any week.

For more information, please contact facilitator, Gloria Tranquilla at momsplace70@hotmail.com or call the church office at 458-8348. You can also register online using the link below.

Muffin Ministry

On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way.

Our schedule is open from now until the end of 2024. We require 3 dozen muffins each week. If you are able to help in this way, please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen.

Please click the link below or call the church office (506-458-8348) and our admin team will be pleased to do the online registration for you. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for him.

6. Pastoral Search Committee Prayer Guide, Week 4

The Pastoral Search Committee is so grateful for your prayers these last 3 weeks. We have each sensed God's protection, sought his wisdom, and relished our time together and separately in prayer over our church.

This past Sunday was such a beautiful reminder of how joyous it is to come together in one space and worship, to hear God's Word, and gather around the Lord's table. With churches near and far closing their doors, it was a rich blessing to have left BSBC, who's morning service was full of life.

Please continue to pray for our church: it's members, adherents and guests, that BSBC will be filled with a unifying spirit, ready for the mission God is preparing us for. Please pray for our Search Committee: that as we continue working towards calling a Senior/Lead Pastor, that God's wisdom would speak into our decisions and be protected from the evil one. Please pray for our current staff: that their hearts and minds would be ready for the harvest we feel God is preparing in the fields of Fredericton for.

On behalf of the Search Committee,

Greg Keezer

7. Fresh Start Young Adults: Tuesdays

9. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings: September 8

This Sunday, the worship team in the gym will be led by Greg Keezer. In the sanctuary the worship team will be led by Gloria Tranquilla and David Steeves, with special music from the Sanctuary Choir.

Pastor Ross will be preaching in the gym. Of his sermon, he writes, “Have you ever thought life is unfair? This Sunday we will look at Matthew 20: 1 - 16 - The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard , to explore how God treats us. Is the treatment we receive fair? What is our response to God’s generosity? To quote the Christian band Reliant K, "The beauty of grace is that it makes life not fair."

Dr. Keith will be preaching in the Sanctuary. Of his sermon titled, Gradual Ascent, he writes, “As the month of August 2024 was fading on the horizon, our last message both wrapped up our informal “Summer Sizzle” series and introduced our exciting subject for the fall season: the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7. Last time we introduced the book of Matthew and noticed that the first Gospel emphasizes how Jesus retraces the steps of the people of God in the days of the Exodus: Jesus is rescued from the genocide of tyrant, is brought (into and) out of the land of Egypt, travels through the waters of chaos, and endures temptation in the wilderness. These powerful points of correspondence illustrate that Jesus is leading us all in a new exodus journey: bringing us out of slavery and toward the promised land. This Sunday we will further observe how Jesus leads us to a mountain, a new Mount Sinai, to hear the revelation of God that can change our lives as we arrive at Matthew 5 and hear the greatest of all messages, one that begins with the ineffable word “Blessed”!”

Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am.
