1. Call for Fall Programming
What a great summer! Another few short weeks and fall will be here. We are looking ahead to the September calendar and are thinking about booking rooms and resources for Bible studies, prayer groups, community potlucks, exercise groups, meetings and other gatherings.
If you are looking to reserve space for your Bible study, Small group, or meeting at BSBC this fall, please click the following link and provide us with the name of your group, a syllabus for your small group or Bible study, your preferred day, time and location. The syllabus should include the number of weeks in duration with the title for each week’s session with a short overview and scriptures for each class. Once these details are provided, we will start advertising two weeks in advance of the start date of your program.
Or: Please email socialmedia@bsbc.nb.ca with the name of your group, a brief explanation of the content, your preferred day, time and location.
Due to limitations of space, rooms will be reserved on a first requested, first booked basis.
2. Family Worship Sunday: August 18
Hey Church Family,
On August 18, we invite our Preschool and KidzTown children, volunteers, and leaders to join us for Family Worship in the gym. Our aim is to help keep our families together and reduce the number of Sundays that our Preschool and KidzTown leaders and volunteers will be separated from the rest of our church family. Our KidzTown and Preschool planned children’s activities will continue around these Sundays.
Thank you for loving our family and our children in this way.
3. Oasis: August 8 – 10, 2024
Each year, the Baptist churches in Atlantic Canada send ‘delegates’ to OASIS, an annual gathering for worship, discipleship, and to consider how we share together in living out the love of Jesus “everywhere”.
Give a read:
Each August, we gather to deepen relationships, build community, learn tools for thriving in ministry, worship together, make decisions around budgets, and vision for the future.
Oasis is also a time to celebrate God’s faithfulness and our shared mission.
Over our three days together you’ll hear updates from our CBAC partner organizations; – Crandall University, Acadia Divinity College, Canadian Baptist Ministries and Atlantic Baptist Foundation. You’ll hear from speakers, worship bands and other gifted artists that will encourage and inspire you and your church to new heights. As you drive back to your churches after Oasis it is our prayer and hope that you are filled with inspiration, new friendships and joy leading into the fall season.
In 2024, it will be the 178th Annual gathering of our CBAC family. This year the Oasis Planning Team consists of CBAC Staff, Pastors and members from CBAC churches. If you have any questions, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us at oasis@baptist-atlantic.ca. See you in August!
To be a delegate for BSBC, you must be a member of BSBC. Based on our membership, we can send 10 delegates and we have room for three more! Otherwise, you can attend OASIS as a guest – everything but vote on business. Are you interested in being one of our delegates to OASIS? We are able to provide a stipend of $200 to cover your registration and help with expenses. If you are able to attend, please contact Naomi in the church office (naomi.phillips@bsbc.nb.ca) and she will complete your registration.
Have a look at all the details:

Throughout the week, we volunteered at various places, including The Drive Clothing Bank, Greener Village Food Bank, Windsor Court Senior Home, Lungs Canada, Flores residence, Third Sunday Supper and in our church. It was a fulfilling week of serving both God and the community. A big thank you to all our hard-working youth and the leaders who served this week. Your work was meaningful and will have a lasting impact!
8. NS Ashram Report
Recently, we had a number of people from our church here at BSBC attend the Nova Scotian Christian Ashram held in Berwick, Nova Scotia from July 11-16.
At the Ashram, children experienced a great and God focussed kids’ program, and adults experienced some great teaching, meaningful worship times and spaces to go deeper, all outside in the beauty of God's creation. A retreat providing space to be, to worship, and to pray and to experience God's love and care in the face of all of life's busyness.
If you feel like you missed our, don't worry! The New Brunswick Christian Ashram is coming! Held on Thursday, August 8 - Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Beulah Camp and Conference Center, Browns Flat, New Brunswick, with the speakers being Gordon Thompson and Phyllis Nesbitt.

11. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings: August 11
This Sunday, the worship team in the gym will be led by Jon Wilton. In the sanctuary the worship team will be led by David Steeves, with special music from Laura McGuire and an Ensemble.
Dr. Keith will be preaching in both services. Of his sermon titled, Summer Sizzle: The Bread of Life, he writes, after a wonderful long weekend with a blended service in the sanctuary, our informal “Summer Sizzle” series continues this Sunday in both services with a special fireside conversation with our very own Riley Burtt! Since John chapter 6 features a large crowd who travel to the far side of the Sea of Galilee, it is an ideal topic to explore on this August 11th Lord’s Day: what does the crowd really need? When Jesus encourages them “don’t work for food that perishes,” how should this be interpreted? What does it mean when Jesus says, “I am the bread of life,” and how can we apply this to our lives in 2024? Thanks in advance to Riley for helping us work through this remarkable portion of God’s Word.
Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am.
12. Pastoral Care
Your Deacons want to affirm that BSBC is equipped to provide Pastoral Care. We are grateful for the engagement of Rev. Ross and Pastor Nikki, and we are blessed to have additional support from Rev. Kevin Culberson, the Baptist Chaplin at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and Doug McAllister, our Benevolent Coordinator and Senior’s Visitation Pastor.

Critical Incident
• If a pastor is needed in an emergency situation, between Monday to Friday, 8:30 am and 4 pm, please contact the church office
• Outside of office hours, please contact a pastor directly
Bereavement
• Rev. Ross and Rev. Kevin will be available to support families at a time of loss, to conduct funeral and committal services
• Contact the church office during office hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4 pm
• Outside of office hours, please contact a pastor directly
• We have provided McAdams, Bishops, and York Funeral Homes with the contact information for both Rev. Ross and Rev. Kevin
• If you are not a member of a bereaved family but know of a death within the BSBC family, please contact the church office to make sure your pastors are aware of the need

13. Welcome, Connection & Prayer Cards
Over the last several months, we have noticed a number of new and returning faces in our congregations. Our Sanctuary Ushers and our Gym Greeting Team wanted to have something to hand out to folks to welcome them to our church that would perhaps provide a method to make deeper connections with our church family.
So, we came up with a revamped Welcome card! The new and improved cards provide information on how to Connect, Grow, Serve and Give. If you have a new address or telephone number or would like some information on programming or volunteering or have a prayer request, please fill out the tear-off portion at the bottom of the card and give it to your Greeter or place it in the Offering box.
To find one of these Welcome, Connection and Prayer Cards, please ask one of the Sanctuary Ushers or a member of the Gym Greeting Team or simply check the Welcome Tables in the vestibule, gym hallway or the Connections Center.
14. Community Events

The Bible Teacher is The Rev. Dr. Phyllis M. Nesbitt. Phyllis was a nurse in New Brunswick before being ordained in the Congregational Christian Church in Canada in 1994.
